I have no clue where to put this http://espn.go.com/blog/new-york/je...hit?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter
So explain to me how pointing out some physical "flaws" and throwing statistics, address overreacting fans? IMO, when something like this gets posted after 2 straight losses, to me it's an overreaction. I'm not saying he's perfect by any stretch, but this is getting way too microscopic.
The refs were almost as bad as Sanchez. But the fact it was 27-17 with a chance to get it to 3, and the Human Turnover Machine turned it over..
Seriously? Did you miss this? There's nothing in there that screams overreaction. In fact, he makes it rather clear that he's trying to get rid of the feast or famine style of discussion.
How come, it's so easy for us to criticize eric smith, vlad ducasse, kyle wilson, etc. but when someone wants to criticize sanchez they get shut down? Honest question. I support the decisions of the coaching stuff in the roster decisions but I am seriously worried about Sanchez right now, just look at the list of QBs that have won super bowls in the past decade: Manning, Brady, Brees, Roethlisberger, Rodgers, E. Manning, the only outlier is Brad Johnson who had a historically good defense, the fact of the matter is that we need our QB do be playing AT LEAST at an eli manning level who is the second worst QB on that list, and right now Sanchez is nowhere near Eli level, and Eli isn't even considered top tier. We don't need a Brady or Manning to win a SB, we have a good enough supporting cast to the point where all we need is someone of Eli Manning's caliber to go all the way. I know we love to toss the 4-2 playoff record out there for Sanchez, but lets be real, he was terrible in the indianapolis game last season up until he completed that pass to braylon to get us in good FG position, people forget about the late first half interception, and tons of overthrows that game. He didn't even play well in the game at San Diego if you look at his stats, one good pass to keller for a TD and that was the extent of his good performance. He gets props for the game at cincy, and @ new, but that defense sucked and Rex deserves most of the credit for that game by coaching the defense up. If Sanchez does not improve significantly by season's end we really need to consider opening up the spot for competition. This team is too good to be held back like it is.
Sanchez is in his 3rd year, that's why people aren't going to go balls deep in their criticisms of him. It's hard to come in the league with little college experience and set the world on fire in a system that he doesn't fit in. I criticize the kid, he does do some stupid things, but let's be honest the system we're running and what we're asking him to be isn't suited to his skills. Most great OC's tailor the system to their QB's skill set and let's be honest Schottenheimer doesn't do that at all. The only guy who could run the system half way decent was Pennington and Pennington even had trouble with it. Sanchez is a gunslinger who has pretty good instincts, we're basically trying to make him into a Pennington type brain QB, and I don't think that fits him at all. He does need to make better decisions and he needs to have a short memory about mistakes but I can't expect a guy who's in his 3rd year to be Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, especially since those guys had amazing offensive coordinators who developed them into the players they are today by taking advantage of what they do best.
That wasn't in the original post. If you look at the OP, it screams overreaction. I stopped reading after that. I guess some of the follow up posts make more sense...
This is the kind of shit I have a problem with...the kid's in his third year, and has given me the most exciting Jets football in the past 2 years of my life. And all this douche wants to do is discredit my QB for every playoff win. Did you even watch the Superbowl the refs gave to Ben? HE WAS AWFUL...that's what you call winning in spite of your QB. Why don't you take your head out of your ass and see how many years the QB's you listed were IN THE LEAGUE, SITTING before they started a single game. This is Sanchez's THRID YEAR! Outside of Peyton, go look at the stats for those QB's in their THRID year, NOT their third year starting.
He tends to stare down his first read. Not even referring to just this year, as well, he's often been lucky to have time to stare down a first read. Obviously he's still young (I mean this is his fourth year of experience between the pros and the NFL) but this is the flaw that concerns me the most (outside of his big dummy for an OC)
Its a discussion about the imperfections of Mark Sanchez. It has no bearing on losing games, or he can't do it, or he sucks, or looking elsewhere. Its about his limitations from an analytical standpoint. Remove the motives that you've placed in this thread on your own, and either add to the discussion, or move on. It's not an overreaction because there is no conclusion to this thread in terms of finding an alternative to Sanchez. Even me, the biggest Sanchez supporter on this board, can see that his long delivery and his issues with throwing to his left and reading zone from man coverages are his limitations. Its pure analysis. I agree with you, he's a winner. He's not the reason why the Jets have been eliminated from the playoffs. He shows up the larger the stage of the game. Its beautiful. But this thread is valid and it has a right to be here.
LOL, what an over hyped bum. I don't see why there is such a fuss over him at all when the only way the Jets have a chance to win a super bowl is if everything outside of ms is perfect. What a captain, eh????
I always feel Sanchez is psychologically smaller on the field than he is off it. He talks well, says the right things and sounds confident and in control, but on game day he shrinks and seems to be playing reactively instead of with confidence. He doesn't yet have the on-field arrogance of a Brady or a Rodgers who play like they know what's going to happen next, because they're about to make it happen. With Mark it often seems a bit more hopeful than certain. He'll get there though.
great thread, great job of everyone giving opinions and talking down people who are blatantly biased. it started off a little rough but its definitely turned into a very good conversation. i agree wholeheartedly with abyzmuls post a few pages ago. i also know that sanchez has a great big heart and always brings the team back no matter how badly he has played. he impresses me time and time again so far as how he always makes it interesting at the end.
Garrard Call me crazy and I really don't care what anyone says, Sanchez is not an NFL quaterback, whether you need to wait another 2-3 years to find out that hard way it's your choice. This guy lacks the abillity and brain power to be a succesful NFL QB, we had to basically limit him to succeed. If we had a somewhat good QB the past two seasons, we would of celebrated 1-2 titles. That being said, I would sign Garrard and see what this guy has left in the tank, I think he is a far better QB than Sanchez.
Ok, my first post in years.....Three thing bother me about this kid. (1) Takes to long to get the play off. I don't know how many times I have screamed at the TV yelling "just snap the freakin ball and run the play!" Kind of reminds me of the weekend golf hacker who spends too much time standing over the ball before slicing it into the lake. He needs to lose this Peyton Manning circa 2007 manerism. FIXABLE (2) This pump fake of his has turned into an involuntary reaction I dont think he even realizes he is doing anymore. Several times that little twitch has thrown of his balance and timing when his reciever comes open- FIXABLE (3) Looks like a coiled spring in the pocket even with no pressure. When he scrambles I sense pure panic. Just lacks the intangible combination of the ability to beconcious of everything going on the field at 100 mph yet relaxed enough to execute. The proverbial deer in the headlight. - UNFIXABLE
