Sanchez is the major problem with the jets. 3 weeks in a row the jets defense has forced a big turnover only to have Sanchez give it back on the next play. He was a huge reach in the draft, and the jets made it to 2 title games in spite of, not because of, him. I tell people in my office that Sanchez will never appear in the Super Bowl unless he is holding for the kicker. And ,yes, I know, he doesn't do that for the jets.
Well again the reason I brought up Edwards was about the getting better chemistry over time with the receivers. It didn't help much in getting the crossover patterns down, even in his case.
If Shotty is as bad as portrayed on here, why isn't Rex criticized for letting it happen for 2 and a quarter seasons? Who's running the show?
ohh man, your gonna get roasted now .. but I agree with you .. everyone gets a "get out of jail free" card except the OC ..
Sounds like Mangold will be returning soon. Hopefully that will help some with the line issues. Of course, hopefully they aren't pushing him to return sooner than he should. Last thing we need to do is panic and exacerbate the situation.
Some of the Schotty haters, thanks to me, I will take all the credit, have finally gotten around to trying to answer this question. With uneven success. Some have gone so far as to say Ryan doesn't know what he's doing, and should be criticized. Some sort of mix that in with a claim that Ryan doesn't know much about O, so he defers. Some think Schotty has pics of Ryan and his wife doing odd things. Some think Ryan took the job without having control over who his OC is. Well, at least they are trying. Also in fairness, Ryan may well get around to taking adverse action toward Schotty, probably depending on how bad or good things get this season.
Sanchez flaws are he is on an over-rated O with a OC who doesn't have a clear idea of what he wants to do on O. We have 1 great center, hurt and one very good LT. Holmes is a reall nice NFL WR, our TE is decent not an all pro. It's not like we have overwhelming offensive talent. Sanchez isn't the problem but my guess is if he keeps getting knocked around he probably will become Alex Smith and David Carr. Time to get a new OC and rebuild the OL.
3 weeks in a row?? You mean when we blew out the Jags he had 1 pick but it meant nothing. Guy is 24 years old and been to back to back afcg's. He has also had 0 run game and a terrible O line so far this year. Take your garbage back to patsfans troll.
The whole Sanchez situation is just strange. Didn't start many games in college, high draft pick, thrown right into it in the pros, gets to 2 championship games. Sometimes looks like a quality NFL qb, other times looks completely inept. I was at the Texans game last year, which was a microcosim of this - he basically sucked the whole game, then in the last minute throws 2 of the most perfect passes I have seen in 40 + years of watching football to win the game. I think the OP was trying to point out explainations for this Jekyll/Hyde aspect of Sanchez's game so far. My fear is whether he will get straightened out while this team still has the horses to do something in this league.
Yeah, which is why while I am all for going over the physical aspect, a lot of it strikes me as mental. Maybe it's something like this... Most people perform better when they are more relaxed. Or maybe the way to put it is that being relaxed is not a detriment for the vast majority of people, some of whom are indifferent to stress, but some who feel the stress perform worse when they are being stressed out. But think about sociobiology. Isn't the stress reaction coming from adrenaline being pumped into the system, so that we are more aware, our senses are heightened? Some people can use that adrenaline rush to better focus. In fact many do. Who performs better in a meeting, or making a speech, when they are simultaneously looking bored and about to fall asleep? Maybe Sanchez takes the adrenaline of playing in a must win game and uses it to better focus. Maybe that's why he seems less focused in games like the Raiders game, or the 10-6 Miami game. And I know you would think the Ravens game was important and all that, but it wasn't a playoff game. It wasn't a must win regular season game. And why he seems more focused in games you might fear he would choke on? It's a thought. THe point is that he most logical explanation we can find to explain the kind of inconsistency we see in Sanchez is most likely mental, and this might explain how that works. It's his personality to focus better in high pressure games.
You can't use the Ravens game as a marker for anything. The Jet's offensive line played worse in that game than any line since 2007 and the Ravens front 7 is among the strongest in the NFL. It looked like Sanchez cost us the game with the two TD's off of turnovers but the odds the Jets win that game if he doesn't make them are still really low. The score just would have been closer.
The two games this year that were competitive were the Cowboys and the Raiders. Sanchez had good games in both but his flaws also emerged at times. The other two games were completely uncompetitive and Sanchez looked less effective in those games, both in the win against the Jaguars and the loss to the Ravens. I take your point on him playing better in competitive games than he does in games where the competition is a mismatch. Maybe it is a focus issue.
I mean at first thought, you wouldn't think so. How would anybody here feel playing Qb in an NFL game? ANY NFL game? Well, it would certainly get your attention, among other things. But cliches like "rises to the occasion" or "when the going gets tough, the tough get going" it's that kind of thing.
There are about 3 things that are amazingly incorrect in your post. Maybe you can figure out what they are.
