As bad as it's looked so far in 3 of the 4 games this year....win Sunday, and all is forgiven.

I think we have a much better chance against the Patriots than we did against Baltimore. Their front 7 isn't nearly as disruptive, they can't give us so much pressure up the A-gap. Wilfork is a beast, but we can double him. Mayo will miss the game. Hopefully, we'll be able to get a little more going running the ball.

And the Patriots pass defense is abysmal right now. This is the game where Holmes needs to step up. Of course, Belly is great at taking away your #1 option, but hopefully, Keller, Plax, and Mason can step up and make plays for us. We're going to need to score points to win.

If our OL collapses anywhere near as bad next week as it did this week, we're in deep, deep trouble.

Can our defense stop New England? It did very well 2 of 3 games last year. That MNF game was pretty much everything going against us from the start. I think Hernandez will play, which will give us matchup problems since he is a beast in the passing game. So is Gronkowski, who is really strong with the ball.

Our pass rush has been mediocre this year, so Brady should have time to throw. Hopefully, Rex draws up one hell of a gameplan like last year in the playoffs, where we mix together man and zone coverages to confuse him and hopefully force some turnovers.

Our defense was a lot better today, and they forced a few turnovers. Hopefully, that carries over to next week.

    In before SOJF.

It will be nice to see a soft defense for a change, after what we've seen so far. Before the season I thought this would be the hardest game of the early year, now it seems like it may be a welcome diversion.

I agree with you on your chances. I think Mangold will be back. For us, Mayo will be out. Even if Hernandez returns, he probably won't be at 100%. And we saw what you did last year when he wasn't 100%. He was a non factor. Haynesworth is stll nursing a bad back and Ellis hasn't really shown up at all. Plus we need Dowling and Bodden back to try and cover Burress and Keller. Rex usually seems to come with ways to confuse Brady. As I've said, I think Sanchez will have a big day. Even if you don't win, the season is relatively young.

If we play as sloppy and predictable as we did in the last 4 games, then yeah...we're basically going to have a tough day. If we can get creative (in a good way) and actually attack NE's weaknesses while taking away Gronkowski and Welker in the passing game and hit and confuse Brady then I think we win the game.

Our defense played very well tonight, but our asshole offense needs to get it together.

Ellis will be motivated like crazy, but I don't know how much he has left in the tank. Whatever he has left will be emptied in this game though.

Ellis last year against the Pats in the playoffs was fantastic. No one will deny that. But he was mediocre last year. I wish the Jets brought him back as a veteran presence, but clearly they didn't feel he had much left in the tank. They did need to get younger at the DL (among other positions).

Are Dowling and Bodden going to play next week? Chung returned this week (I think). Bodden hadn't been very good this season, according to my Patriots fan co-workers, but Dowling looked pretty good. Braylon killed McCourty last year, and he's gone. Plax is a clear downgrade, but he can still hopefully make plays in the red zone.

But Sanchez should have time to throw. While he got knocked around a bit in the first 3 games, Oakland, Dallas, and Baltimore all have far better pass rushes than New England. This game, like most games, will be largely determined by how well Sanchez plays.

That said, I could see us trying to come out running the ball early on to try and establish a running game offensively. 4 weeks in, and it's been just abysmal. New England has been pretty solid vs the run, but without Mayo, we might be able to have more success. Baltimore, Oakland, and New England had disruptive guys who could get sacks. Right now, the Pats D has one guy I'm scared of in Wilfork, and I think the Jets still have enough talent up front to contain him with double teams.

We had no chance today because our offense had no chance to run. Sanchez had no time to throw the ball, and when he did, he was shellshocked and made bad throws. And when he didn't release the ball on time, he didn't recognize pressure and had 2 fumbles.

That should change next week. We had no hope this week offensively. Next week, we have some. The next 3 games will be huge for Sanchez with two divisional games and the Chargers. Go 3-0, and I'll gladly look like an idiot for some of the posts I've made lately. Go 0-3 and kiss this season goodbye.

    Need mangold back.

The pats soft D will hopefully be a nice chance for the O to get something positive going.

Definitely a team the jets can match up with. Just gotta hope the bleeding stops.

With Mangold the Jets will be an entirely different team, and actually stay competitive.

That describes the jets play in the ravens game. I expect the pats to come out firing and play like they want revenge for last years loss.

Agreed, today was a horrible matchup. The OL was a trainwreck in the 1st half, and while I appreciate Sanchez's toughness taking all the hits, he was shellshocked in this game to the point that even when he didn't have a lot of pressure in his face, his throws were still really inaccurate.

Next week, Sanchez needs to get his confidence back. If he struggles against the Pats D the way it has been playing lately, and we can't block them, then I really start to panic.

Right now, I still think we're a playoff team, even if I'm starting to doubt it a lot. If this is anything like that MNF game last year, I'll cut our chances down greatly.

We need a big performance. So far this year, we had one big performance, and even in that game, we had 283 total yards. We've already dropped 2 AFC games, and we're a game behind in the division behind 2 teams, one of which has the best quarterback in the conference by a landslide and won 14 games last year.

    Scary pattern:

after a Jets loss, if they face a division opponent, they have an equally shitty loss.

So if the pattern holds true, next week is going to be hell.

I don't agree with establishing a run game against the Pats. Look at what Oakland did against us in terms of passing. I think the one formula that seems to work well against the Pats is to test out their secondary. Just send your receivers on hail-mary routes and Sanchez will probably throw for 89492385492385 yards and look like an NFL MVP. The Patriots D is pathetic at best, not only are they ranked dead last in the NFL, but they are showing zero signs of life at this point, and where the hell is Albert Haynesworth?!?!?!?

If Mangold comes back next week, its all over for the Pats. I just can not see how the Pats apply ANY pressure at all, I am sure that even Mark Sanchez can throw for 400 yards if he has 10 seconds unpressured in the pocket every time he drops back.

have you been watching a different jets team than the rest of us. this jets team isn't last years jets team. they are not playing very good football and can be beaten by most teams.

so far this season, the jets have been middle of the pack type team. sanchez is showing he's not the elite qb that can carry a team.

Oh I have been watching, and the Jets offensive play has been subpar at best so far this season, but that might be because other teams actually blitz, get into your backfield, and pressure Sanchez. If Mangold comes back, this gets even more difficult to do.

The Patriots have zero pass rush, they would probably fail to get a sack if your entire O line just laid down for them, it is absolutely ridiculous. Now Mayo is out for AT LEAST A MONTH, no sign of Haynesworth at all, and our secondary is a joke.

Any team can throw against the Patriots, including my sons pop warner team. Mark my words, no special game planning needs to be done. Sanchez will have all the time in the world to throw to wide open receivers.

    The only question is this.

Can your defense stop Brady, Welker, Gronk, and Hernandez(if he plays) and lets not forget about NoshowStinco.
