And the problem is on one side of the ball. How do they fix this? Is it fixable this year or have we basically seen our chances go down the tubes already? Who is responsible? What do the Jets have to do to make sure that the responsibility for the problems is accounted for and the same factors do not continue to plague the franchise? If the season is already looking shaky what are the Jets building for the future at this point? What pieces are they likely to lose over the next season or two to normal aging? Do the Jets have a long-term plan or are they basically just throwing together a team every year and taking their best shot? Who are the players on this team who look like they will be star players for the forseeable future?
I would much rather see a long term team take shape then throwing together 1 year guys, I still can't get over we sign Plexico over Edwards.
I don't know if you noticed tonight but the Jets looked distinctly like the 2005 and 2007 crews on offense for most of the night. The only thing missing was that the QB did not get hurt. The problem is pretty much the same as the 2005 and 2007 problems, to wit a "good" offensive line is actually not as good as hyped because of depth issues which injuries are exposing and because talent issues on the line are creating a lack of cohesion and giving opposing defenses easy decisions on how to attack the Jets offensive front. I think every question I asked in the original post bears directly on what we are watching and where the season goes from here. It is actions that the Jets choose to take or not that will decide where we wind up this year and in some cases for the next few. Status quo isn't going to work here. The Jets have now been dominated at the point of attack in 3 out of the 4 games this season and the domination has reached the point that Mark Sanchez is no longer functional in this system. Putting him out there next week against the Pats without fixing some of the problems we saw today is going to lead to more of what we saw today. Belichik may not have the Raven's defensive talnet at his disposal but he is going to break down the film of this game and make Sanchez miserable next week if the Jets bring the same dog and pony show into Foxboro.
We can't run the ball. Sanchez has no time to throw and can't get into a rhythm. Defenders are all over our quick passes because they know we can't throw down the field without taking sacks.
and the defense is on the field longer, which makes them tired, which makes them lose fundamentals, which allows teams to run all over them and run more often with a lead. Nick Mangold makes 2 phases of the team better by being the brain of the offense and making life better for everyone.
We have 3 guys on the OL who are at best practice squad players going up against the Ravens. Lossing by less than 3TD's on the road was impressive. Get Mangold back and with 2 guys on the OL who are practice squad players work our way back into the playoff hunt.
Impressive? Stop making excuse cause we have injuries, pats are playing with a backup center/right tackle and many defensive players. Excuses are for losers
Yeah, get Mangold back and we can get back into the playoff hunt and lose by less than 2TDs which will REALLY be impressive.
I am not a fan of Schotty, but Bill Walsh couldn't do anything with this offense unless changes/improvements are made on the O-Line.
I agree 100% New England has far more injuries than the Jets, but for whatever reason, they have ZERO pass rush and are getting burned in the secondary. The defense sucked donkey b*lls before Mayo and Love got injured too, so its not injuries, it is p*ss poor defensive schemes, WTB 3-4 Def over 4-3 as its obviously not working out...hopefully it will soon tho.
If the O-Line doesn't get its act together we'll find ourselves in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes (which means we'd most likely trade down and get a boatload of picks lol)....The fate of the O-line depends on when Mangold comes back. He really is the key to the O-Line.
The same talent? Belishit has no talent at his disposal and that is why their defense ranks last in the NFL. I wouldn't worry about their defense but I would worry about stopping Welker.
