This exact thing has actually been a running conversstion with a few of my friends for a couple of years. Glad to knock one item off of the "proof that I'm crazy" list.

just because he came here because of Schotty doesn't mean he may have come to realize that Schotty has significant issues as a coordinator.

Absolutely what"m saying. He seemed like the last guy to say something to the effect of Schotty being outcoached and needs to change things up.

Not to mention in the case of the Cowboys and Raiders, we play the rest of their divisional opponents this year.

    Not really.

Other players are telling LDT they know they're running when they have certain formations. Has nothing to do with the OLine

Callahan actually has a track record of success with his OLine, Mangold is out and our line is weak. Schotty has a track record of utter incompetence

A lot of people are making the argument that Shotty would have been fired if Rex thought he wasnt good enough. But lets take a few things into account. We have a very young QB in a lockout year where there wasnt going to be much of an offseason. So instead of firing shotty and trying to learn a new offense in a very short amount of time, we hire Tom Moore to baby sit.

So Jets Camp West wasn't the resounding success I was led to believe?

The Jets knew that they were going to be changing a lot of pieces though - presumably had been tipped off about Woody retirement, had accepted Cotchery's trade or release request before lockout and had no plans to keep Braylon.

The camp was far less valuable than it could have been.

Actually given that two of the receivers Sanchez is throwing too weren't even here for JCW I think it was probably a success.

What the Sanchez haters aren't doing so far is giving him credit for the progress he has made this season. Completions are up. TD passes are up. Red zone efficiency is up. Interceptions are down compared to the 13 he threw in the last 8 games last year.

All of that in a context in which the offensive line basically blows chunks and he's working with two new receivers.

In Sanchez three years with the Jets he has worked with a new starting receiver each season. He worked with Edwards coming in late in 2009, with Holmes landing game 4 of 2010 and now with Plaxico and Mason right off the bat in 2011.

I think he's doing just fine given all that.

I'm actually starting to think all of this is not a "coincidence."

I'm starting to think that there may be a significant number of offensive players that feel this way. Ever since Jenny Vrentas confirmed this week that she'd heard Tone's concerns from "MULTIPLE" offensive players, so it wasn't just him... I thought maybe it was possible the concerns may still be somewhat isolated to some extent amongst the offense, but now...

The fact that it's been LT AND Tone, and that they are both being vocal about certain shortcomings... Particularly failure to adjust, predictability, etc. I think there's something bigger at play bts.

Look, I'm not trying to be a conspiracy theorist, and maybe I'm off base, but...

Future HOF, LT, becomes critical, Tone becomes critical, back to back, with almost no time between them, also two players that are about as "protected" as you can get.

Brian Billick reminded me of the "protected" players factor and how often it's used in the NFL, so I can't take credit for it, but... I don't know if any of you caught his comments this week, but he said... Players like Mark Sanchez and Mike Vick, QBs, they "can't" call out their o-lines, they "can't" say things with the connotation of, "I'm not getting protected, my o-line has to do better, or they can't easily comment on the fact that their OC isn't switching gears to max protect, etc." He said, but those things are usually believed, even when they're not being "said" and there are certain players within every organization that... "can" take the hits on these topics and more, given certain factors.

I found that interesting, given Tone has also said, Mark's been on his back too much, we have to do our best to adjust and try to get him protected. And for the record, the o-line is the ultimate responsibility of the OC. As adjustments like chipping/max protect, etc can at least be tinkered with to TRY to get the QB more protection.

Tone is one of Rex's closest guys, so if Rex truly wanted Tone to shut his mouth, Rex would make him shut up. I have little doubt. Isn't Rex legendary for being the HARDEST on "his guys?"

What Tone says and does, at times, is Rex messaging, I think. Tone wanted that first quarter touchdown for... Rex, more than anything. He talked about how important the Baltimore game is for numerous reasons, including the fact that, as he said, "Winning big games on the road is part of Coach Ryan's identity here with the Jets" so he didn't want to let him down this game. I don't know...

People underestimate Rex's pull with "his guys." And, it's not like we don't know that Rex will get in the "ear of his guys" to send messages and not even have told the other coaches.

I remember a scene from Hard Knocks where Pettine kept wondering WTF was going on with Bart. Could not figure it out. Then Rex later acknowledges, "Oh, yeah, I told Bart to..., because I wanted to send a message to..."

Two players are speaking up, who "CAN" speak up.

Another point, why I think there's more to this than meets the... Something like this happened when Rex was in Baltimore... Very similar. It started just like this... And Rex sat back, and it's "believed" he allowed and disallowed certain things, because changes needed to happen. Some believed with his pull and clout with certain players, he could have diffused certain issues had he wanted to, but they served his purpose, so he didn't. Some believe he was "directly" behind some of the issues, etc. And in fact, some believe, some of the "perceived machinations," may have played in to Rex not getting the head coaching job in Baltimore. I'm sure you guys know the history in the Ravens locker room and all that transpired there, though, so I won't get in to it.

But Rex has messengers, without a doubt. And if that's how he rolled in Baltimore, I see no reason to believe he's changed now. And for the record, none of that is a knock on Rex, I love him as our HC, think he's a brilliant coach, and in regards to motivating and pulling strings.

I'm just saying, I almost wonder if Tone, at the very least, and maybe LT aren't floating messages. Rex can be incredibly passive aggressive if he wants to be. And we know that Tone has acknowledged in print, on tv, etc. that Rex, and I quote, "stays in his ear and stays texting him when he's not in his ear." And it's readily apparent... just from watching. If you watched that Raiders game when the Jets didn't adjust and time was about to expire on the game, Tone was calmly right by Rex, even helping Rex count the defensive players on the field, to make sure someone on defense didn't sub wrong... Tone hugs Bob Sutton before games, he... I'm just saying...

I don't know... it's starting to become something where I don't think.... Tone and LT are going it alone on this, at the very least. If it's not Rex, then I think they're taking the hits that some other players, "can't take" for a cause, and if and when Rex wants, at least Tone, to muzzle it, I bet he does. BET.

But it's readily apparent, obviously, amongst the veterans on our teams, that our OC and the scheme/play calling/game planning needs adjusted.

Schotty saying stuff like this.... IS a problem.

Where were you? Your players saw it. You didn't think there was a reason for the stall? You didn't get that the coverage had changed? I mean, comments like that... That's just not okay. Like we got up, and then I was done coaching, and then realized, wait...! We're losing now. Uhh...

Just curious.....Has anyone that tivoed any of the games gone back and looked to confirm what LT said? I didnt notice, but going back to take a look might present the smoking gun...

Btw - I wonder if it's time to rekindle to "Shotty - Promised/Delivered" thread lol.....

It's an interesting situation. There are so many unknowns at this point and yet unless the offense really takes off the next couple of weeks we're going to have more and more of a shitstorm build up on that side of the ball.

Given that Schotty has been called out after each game so far by somebody and that the Jets don't figure to have a breakout game against the Ravens on offense I wouldn't be surprised to see this come to a head next week with a lot of pressure on the Jets headed into the Patriot's game. That game is worth more than any other single game will be this year because it's a chance to get a real edge on the Pats by taking them down in their building.

And they have the worst defense in the league.

If its not a shootout, there is a giant issue.

Their defense is being saved by Brady outscoring people.
