Assuming that Cromartie is not ready to go on Sunday, (which may be a good thing) who will be opposite Revis? do we keep Wilson in the nickle role with Strickland on the outside? or do we put Wilson out there and have strickland as a nickle... We know strickland can play either role but is he fast enough to keep up with evans? i feel rex has more confidence in strickland whether he wants to admit it or not... wilson has looked decent so far but i dont know how much we could trust him out there one on one. opinions?
if we can eliminate 4 penalties and a game-breaking fumble, id call it a good thing... whether they were legit penalties or not, it seems like cro is always the target of referee nonsense... i hope he plays dont get me wrong... but every time the ball comes to his side its either a great play for us or a TERRIBLE play... not too mention strickland and wilson are better tacklers
Hey I have no complaints about Wilson this year. I think he is doing a pretty darn good job and a HECK of a lot better then last year. This position is the LEAST of our worries for this game.
So Cro has a bad game and all of a sudden hes some loser? Give me a break guy is still top 10 corner in the league and most of the penaltys were bs anyway, Cro will play sunday.
Lee Evans is out. I'd be worried about Torrey Smith. I think Kyle Wilson is our better option as the #2 outside, Strickland is solid in nickel coverage inside.
i agree with you... we have bigger issues without question... but being that cro is coming off one of the worst games possible AND hes banged up, you know rex and pettine have to be thinking about our options
im not saying he shouldnt play... if hes healthy of course hes our number 2... having bruised lungs doesnt sound too healthy though... im sure well know any day now but who knows how he feels
Cro must be feeling really bad or (more likely (I hope)) very embarrassed by hisperformance as he hasnt been in twitter since the game and normally he posts several times a day.
Good, keep your name out cha mouth, or something like that. He needs to stop talking, having kids, and being a pro. Shut up, Tackle, be physical, and pay that child support!
On the 3rd down before Janikowski kicked the 54 yarder, anyone else notice that the ball was terribly under thrown and Strickland should have picked the ball off. He seemed comfortable just making no attempt on the ball.
Our matchups are pretty good for this one, imo. Cro should be able to handle Evans or Torrey Smith, both basically run go routes the whole time, which is what Cro excels at. Not worried about Revis on Boldin, obviously. If we get beat, it'll be because of Ray Rice. Hopefully the front seven has enough pride that they'll step it up after getting embarassed last week. Our defense usually responds very, very well after a bad outing. However, I'd expect our offense to struggle big time.
Strickland would be the choice I think. He's a good CB and as long as he stays healthy he's the one likely to get put in the line of fire if Cromartie goes down. Wilson is doing just fine and I think the coaching staff wants to keep using him in the extra packages and bring him along that way.
If Cro is out, Marquise Cole will also have to step up in dime packages. I think Strickland would be the starter. He came in for Cro last week, and I think they may want to leave Wilson where he's been comfortable this year. Wilson got into trouble last year when they had to move him around from the outside to the inside.
I'm surprised a lot of you guys think Cro is going to play, bruised lungs is serious shit. Also, people are throwing Cro under the bus like crazy. When Cro is healhy, he will be back as the #2 corner. He had a bad game, but also wins games for the Jets. We may have lost the Dallas game without Cro. Having Cro on the team you take the good with the bad, he's a tremendous athlete.
Cromartie was AFC Defensive Player of the Week last week. I know that's a long time ago, but I think he still has something left.
