First off "Boom Headshot!" to all the Cro defenders on this play.

This just backs up what I've been saying.
You can clearly see Cro with his head turned around. Why this guy doesn't try to make a play on the ball while being in just as good or better positon than Dez I don't understand. Jump up and contest for it, its either:

    A: a pick

    B: a batted ball

C: one of the best catches of 2011

Instead he tries to no avail to hold the front of his jersey so he can't jump...
Cromartie gets a F for effort

BTW, Cro had a 42" vertical at the combine. I mean he's 6'2, 211lbs and Dez is 6'2, 220lbs, hell I bet 5'8 Jim Leonhard would have tried to go up with him.

(...and before you say that I have no rebuttal, I do. I'll just have to do it a little later in the day.)

cro got fried on this play, but he'll also make up for it as the season goes.
he also should have come down with that ball against Austin, but fuck, he's part of the D and he'll make a difference as the season goes.

    No.

Cro, Robot? ...he's got no heart. That's OBVIOUSLY why Miles Austin caught that pass.

Again, the WRs so know the play and can expect where the ball to be.

I'd love to see any of you try to:
    A. Keep up with Dez,
    B. Be that reactive where he did disrupt the catch.

CBs have to basically know take their best guess in that situation.

Yes completely, I was not being sarcastic at all.

I'll just call up Dez so we can set this up.

    THAT WAS SARCASM TOO

my .02 (as if it matters)

Cro got embarrassed on the Dez touchdown. I also think Dez Bryant will be one of the best WR's if he can stay healthy, and is already one of the better ones in the league. As Evidenced by him pulling a Megatron/Fitzgerald-esque catch over Revis.

The Austin play, I think Cro had the pick and was down by contact in the endzone before Austin used momentum to roll the ball into his grasp. i think that was the first TD that wasnt instantly reviewed under there new rule (maybe im wrong)

What is so frustrating about him is you see him try to bait throws by playing off coverage, and its boom or bust. The same result as when he jams. he sometimes gets too high in his extension and finds himself taking his weight off his feet, thus victim to quick cuts and quick throws.

yet when Cro succeeds its a thing of beauty even Revis usually wont pull off. When Cro can jam correctly, I havent seen anyone do it better. Revis just does it almost without fail so that instantly makes him a better player.

Either way, Bryant and Austin are two very capable and athletic WR's. Having Revis play across from him makes his job exponentially harder cause each time he slips up the ball WILL come his way.

thus the fanbase will forever be polarized with his feast or famine style.

personally i do think he has a knack for making clutch plays, the playoffs last year were a prime example.

having his return abilities in a pinch also help.

anyways the only 20/20 option id prefer over our current CB setup would be to have locked down Johnathan Joseph.

ill settle for having the 10th-15th best CB opposite Revis though. i dont expect to see Sun night become a trend. if we magically learn how to shut down TE's and RB's in the flats and Cro becomes a one man target range.

    than ill change my mind.

I think that watching Darrelle Revis all the time has spoiled some of you with regards to cornerback play.

Does Cromartie get beaten a few times per game? Yup. But with the exception of maybe 4 guys in the entire league, every corner in football gets beaten by guys like Austin and Bryant. Overall I think that Cromartie does a very good job. Even when he gets burned, you rarely see it go for a huge play which is critical. He's also shown the ability to play the ball and make big plays for the defense.

At the end of the day, he's probably not worth 4 years $32 million. But then again, most decent cornerbacks end up overpaid. I'm certainly happier overpaying Cromartie by a small amount than going into the season with Carlos Rogers, Richard Marshall, Kyle Wilson, or any of the other potential replacements that we could've gotten on the free agent market.

Cro was never downed until he rolled over Austin and his shoulders touched the ground. He landed on Austin and his legs bumped right back up before they could be touched on the ground.

Cro did have the initial possession but Austin had his hand in between. Im not gonna blame Cro for the effort. Lets face, which CB does NOT want an int, that too in the RZ? I will blame him for the his technique on the play, even though he had 'great' coverage.

Even on the replay, its hard to tell who actually had the possession when both receivers were fighting for it, but I did see a couple of officials giving the TD way before one of them could claim the ball.
