does it matter how you get the sacks???????? the steelers don't generate any pass rush from there d-line. no pass rush from our d-line = shutting brady and the patriots down in the playoffs. oh yeah, p.manning too.
The sacks are nice but they don't mean the jets have a consistent pass rush. I think a lot of people would trade a bunch of those sacks for being in the qb's facenforcing pressure all day. We are lucky that Rex/Pettine can scheme sacks into the game plan or the defense would be sunk. We shouldn't make the mistake of seeing the sack numbers and not realizing that they come more from the scheme than from great individual play.
Rex Ryan. Aside from Pace. None of OLB's have that "it" factor on getting to QB's anymore or not yet in their careers. To be honest, our pass rush is more effective because we send corners and safeties like mad men, no because of the front 7.
I agree. We need a pass rusher BUT last night, Bart Scott abd Pace did his thing. I have to give credit where it is due. Dixon and Sione also got got some good pressure. Last night we ran out of gas because we kept having to punt. That said, we need a pass rusher. Not a guy we can send on a blitz a la Westerman. Wee need a guy with legitimate block shedding skills and pass rushing moves.
We need a pass rush or every team in the league will continue to kill us with passes to their TEs and backs. Everybody now knows that's how to beat the Jets and they have only just started to attack that way. Either get pressure or get players who can cover. We need something.
They made the necesarry adjustments at half, plus they had Romo going with a quick release. 3 of our 4 sacks came in the first half.
Jets had as many sacks as the Cowboys, but the Cowboys have Ware and were able to pressure the whole night because of him. You think we could get Ware for Wayne Hunter and a 7th?
look at a guy like Suggs and what he provides to that team every single game, as others have mentioned Ware is another guy that teams just have to game plan against.
