I love our team. I love our head coach. I love my QB, and think he'll improve this year.. Hell, even though I HATE our OC with a passion, I like our offense as a whole. They need to work on some ish (when struggling try not to score NOTHING at all, 4 worst scoring outputs last year we averaged 4.5 PPG).. The one area of this team that concerns me is the pass rush. Im not sure how long it will take for Wilkerson to play consistently but Im hopeful that he can eat up blockers making it easier for other guys.. This is the one part of the team I really have no faith in though
In a 3-4 defense....its the lineman who open up holes for blitzing linebackers...its just bonus if they get a sack.
Our pass rush is based off Revis & Cro. and the rest of the coverage. AORN, We have no real Pass Rusher....
I am not so sure about this thread,,, I have no worries and no issues with our defense. To me the bestest concern now is getting MS and our receivers on the same page. This will be a real test to see how quick they can jell or how much work the need to do. I still think we win this game. 17-10 JETS.
If only it gives you faith for game one, they're facing a line that half of which has one combined NFL start...that has to bode well
Agree with this statement...although, I think we beat the Boys a little worse than that. We were 8th in QB sacks last year...not sure about hurries/pressures. But, we shall see...
I think with the revamped/improved DL, the pass-rush will be better with the blitzes. I still don't see it consistently harassing opposing QBs, but between Pace and the other blitzers (e.g. DBs) that Rex sends, we should be better than last year. Let's also not forget that Harris is a beast at blitzing when the DL creates openings for him.
I'm gonna say we will have a better D-line after week 5 because our draft picks will be in the mix which will make everyone fresher. Also, our rotation of LBs is nice...there are probably 7 guys who I feel good about having on the field. We don;t have a tried and true pass rusher, but we have 7 LBs who can get to the quarterback. Also, Kyle Wilson is a decent blitzer. They won't lead the league in sacks, but they will get the job done.
Nice post. No star rushers on this team but our LB corps make any thing possible. In a New York minute someone can come through and be our pass rushing star. I hope.
I can live with being 8th in the league, especially since we'll have a top 3 defense no matter what. Grow a pair
That is a very good reason! IF thisis how he feels about a preseason game and a bunch of scrubs. How hard is he going to work to get the real team to preform!
If we can get a few different guys to beat a one on one block occasionally the pass rush will look so much better. We all got sick of watching the jets blitz 6 or 7 only to watch each one of them get stood up last season. Pace should be much improved with his foot healed up, westerman has done something during his time here to make Rex a believer even though we haven't seen it yet, Wilkerson is young and should have a nice burst in his legs. If those guys and the other rotational guys can beat the one on ones the scheme creates we will be set as Rex will generate some sacks by getting guys to the qb untouched with the scheme. I would really like to see the defense from the opener in 09. Every single play seemed like a jailbreak on Schaub that day.
