Around this time every year since 1992, I've built the year's rose-colored glasses, and have convinced myself why this is the year. Whether the kool-aid consisted of reasons why Johnny Johnson put us over the edge, Marvin Jones was going to become Mike Singletary, Vinny, Key, and C-Mart were to dominate, or whatever it was - I left labor day weekend convinced that this was the year.

Today, I hardly remember the last game of last year. When the highlights showed up, it was like I forgot how bad I felt after the Steelers game, as I forgot how great I felt after the Colts and Pats games.

As for this year, I'm conscious that there are many reasons to be excited. Far more than to not. But I just can not bring myself to set expectations - either way.

My question is - anyone else feeling similarly?

Wait, I thought all you did was kill innocent people?

    ...

Innocent? Is that supposed to be funny?

An obese man...a disgusting man who could barely stand up...a man who if you saw him on the street, you'd point him out to your friends so that they could join you in mocking him...a man, who if you saw him while you were eating, you wouldn't be able to finish your meal.

After him, I picked the lawyer and I know you both must have been secretly thanking me for that one.

This is a man who dedicated his life to making money by lying with every breath that he could muster to keeping murderers and rapists on the streets!

    ...

    Murderers?

    ...

    A woman...

    ...

    Murderers, John, like yourself?

    ...

A woman! ...so ugly on the inside she couldn't bear to go on living if she couldn't be beautiful on the outside.

A drug dealer, a drug dealing pederast, actually!

And let's not forget the disease-spreading whore!

Only in a world this shitty could you even try to say these were innocent people and keep a straight face.

...but that's the point. We see a deadly sin on every street corner, in every home, and we tolerate it. We tolerate it because it's common, it's trivial. We tolerate it morning, noon, and night. Well, not anymore. I'm setting the example. What I've done is going to be puzzled over and studied and followed...forever.

I feel good about this year, alot better than last. Their was WAYYYY to much pressure last year to win it all. This year their doesnt seem to be anywhere near the amount of pressure or attention. We will see though.

I don't think I could have worded it any better. Every year I convince myself that we have made enough changes and kept the right guys around and the front office knows better thats why they released that guy and signed this guy.. to come up short again . But I'm a Jets fan thats what I am

I know exactly how you feel. Even though I know our team talent wise isn't really any worse, I feel like there are other teams in the league that are definitely better.

Usually I'm arguing how we have a chance to win it this year, but for some reason I've been quite quiet. Maybe its because no one is really arguing that we can win and I thin for once we aren't overrated or underrated....

I had to resurrect this post because it perfectly sums up the way I'm feeling about this season.

For 40+ years I have ridden the emotional roller coaster of being a Jets fan. I have repeatedly had my hopes crushed from the Miami Mud Bowl to Gastineau's roughing the passer meltdown in Cleveland, Denver '99, etc, etc, etc.

You'd think that after 2 straight trips to the AFC title game there would be plenty of reasons to be excited. However; I just feel like I've seen this all play out so many times. I didn't feel excited after the first 2 wins and I don't feel crushed after these last 2 losses.

Maybe all these years of being a Jets fan have finally sucked all of the emotion out of me. Anyone else feel the same?

I'm not feeling as sick about last nights loss as I normally would.

you know why? because I'm confident we'll turn this around and be ok when mangold comes back. rex sounded confident that he would play this week.

you can't tell me last years very good offensive line of

    brick, slauson, mangold, moore, woody

is now one of the worst offensive lines with

    brick, slauson, mangold, moore, hunter

1 change in the offensive line!

the jets have overcome too much adversity under rex to not be confident everything will be fine. it may not happen this week vs the pats, but it'll get turned around in hurry. i'm confident.

I totally agree that bad draft picks and lack of draft picks have set us back. If the Jets had drafted well, they should have been able to backfill most of the players they lost with players who were as good or better.

I can't totally kill Tannenbaum because he has drafted core players like Revis, Mangold, Brick and Harris. However; he's also traded away so many 2-4th round picks for players like Cromartie and Favre that it has created an alarming lack of depth. When you give away that many picks you better be able to hit on every pick you have left.
