I'm right there with you. I'm about to hang out with the beatniks at Starbucks. No power at home or the office, and National Grid told my neighbor we shouldn't expect service restored before Saturday. Saturday!! I have a generator to keep the refrigerator and a couple lamps going, but almost immediately after firing it up I had neighbors asking if I could store food for them. I almost wish I didn't have the thing. Found an invaluable piece of equipment. I got this LED head lamp free when I bought a large work light a couple years ago. You strap the thing on to your melon like you're off to the coal mines, and suddenly reading at night is like a dream.
Katia is sooooooooooo way out there... You people sound like Channel 7 down here...Hyping any storm 2 miles off the coast of Africa...
Looks like most models have it blowing back to the ocean. Although there are few that could mess with the Carolinas or the Northeast again. I could be off but I think I remember a storm few years ago that blew back to the Atlantic but then somehow swung back around. Maybe JW remembers.
Every homeowner needs one of those! Had mine on last night. If you want to act real "stealthy" put it in "red light mode" and read some street maps while sitting in the bushes.
After the ratings they ust have got last week on the weather channel,i'll bet they would hype a tumbleweed in the dessert now if they could.
I lost cable for a day and a half, and a branch in my yard is 3 feet lower than before the storm. That's all.
Had a 13 hour car ride from old forge back home yesterday... Usually takes 4. The extra 9 hours was spent trying to get around about 30 miles of closed thruway. sucked so much dick.
Power back on at 8 PM, after 52 hours out. Thank God. So, I hear there was a football game yesterday - how was it?
They're already pimping Katia. If i see one of those weather whores or weather queers in the supermarket, there's a 50-50 chance I'll kick him/her right in his/her fucking Doppler radar. "Irene - the once in a generation storm." Losers. I get more from Jay's House of Weather 'n Shit than any of those fools have given me. They don't even need to make it interesting by hyping storms like they do. Being a weather person in the northeast is like the Premier League of weather-yapping. You get it all. Imagine the plight of weathergirl Leilani Kahunaleihaniliwonaka, calling out weather on KJFR Channel 9 Honolulu: Monday: "sunny and 84 today..." Tuesday: "sunny and 85 today..." Wednesday: "sunny and 83 today..." And so on. Our weather people get carried away here because we give them too many options.
Still no fucking power. I'm already losing patience. If this continues thru Saturday I don't know what I will do. And to think all this from a tropical storm. What the fuck is going to happen if we get hit with an actual hurricane!!!!!
Finally got power back last night. Tired of being a transient going to different family member's houses to get a shower after work. Power went out Sunday and back last night finally.
Still in the dark. National Grid was kind enough to post an update - "restoration efforts will begin wednesday with most customers restored by Friday and the remaining restored no later than Sunday." Evil fucks. Never thought to tell people that you weren't even STARTING repairs until now? Imma write a angry letter.
