Runs given up since then: 6 runs 11 runs 6 runs 10 runs As bad as their hitting can be, their pitching is horrible in almost every game. They've given up more than 6 runs per game during this losing 10 of 12 streak. And the difference is that while there are good reasons for the bad hitting lately (no Davis, Reyes, Beltran, or Murphy), there is no excuse for game after game of starters giving up at least 4 or 5 runs in 5 or 6 innings or less and relievers being shelled almost every time out.
I think we can all agree that the wheels have completely fallen off. It's exactly what anyone could have predicted (and most did predict), but it still pisses me off to see such complete incompetence from the pitching. Major league pitchers shouldn't be this consistently bad. The team did a good job of fighting for most of the year, but it seems clear that now they've pretty much given up.
The Mets should just hang a "Gone Fishing" sign up and put cardboard cutouts on the field. Looks to me and alot of other fans that this team has already quit on 2011. Collins might be wise to just clean house over the winter and start over from scratch, with a few holdovers, in '12. This team can't compete with the Philles and Braves simply because they're not on the same level.
Why are we calling Misch and Batista up???What is the point...we may as well hand the ball to Schwinden at least he has some upside... Also can we please just fucking shoot Bay....he is up there with Perez and Castillo for Minaya's worst signing.
I think Citi Field got in his head. He's intimidated by both the field and playing in NYC. I doubt if we ever break even ROI speaking on his contract. Best to let it play out and send him on his way.

Yes, those were batting practice jerseys, you nimrod. The radio announcer said so the following night.
OK I'm late to the party, but how can the Tampons still be the owners of the Mets? Given how badly they mismanaged the team, especially financially, and their involvement with Madoff, how are the other owners not calling for their heads?
The Einhorn deal is off, and Wilpon is back to looking for a new source of money. I can only assume that Wilpon actually thought he was somehow going to get $200 million and give up nothing of any value, and was shocked when it turned out not to be true (Einhorn's comments pretty much confirm that). I still think Picard is being ridiculously extortionist in the way he's trying to squeeze Wilpon regarding the Madoff stuff, but it seems clear at this point that him raping the Wilpons is the only hope the franchise has. http://www.newsday.com/mets-sale-to-einhorn-falls-through-1.3137506?cmpid=Breaking
If it weren't for LA, the Mets ownership would easily be the most dysfunctional in baseball right now. Fuck the Wilpons.
Oh well Einhorn is out but more importantly...and I am not being sarcastic Satin and Stinson called up. I like what these two have done in minors...good to see they will get a go...I called this earlier btw!!!!
