A thread for some spirited discussion on Pryor. Does anyone think this guy would be worth a shot to bring in in a "Brad Smith" type of roll? He's a heck of an athlete and most consensus views have him as no better than an eventual backup or 3rd QB...but couldn't he fit in a "wildcat" roll? Thoughts...Opinions?? Peace!
Supplemental Draft Since 1977, the NFL has also held a Supplemental Draft to accommodate players who did not enter the regular draft. Players generally enter the Supplementary Draft because they missed the filing deadline for the NFL Draft or because issues developed which affected their eligibility (such as athletic or disciplinary matters). The draft is scheduled to occur at some point after the regular draft and before the start of the next season. In 2009, the Supplemental Draft occurred on July 16. In 1984 the NFL held an additional draft for players who were under contract with either USFL or CFL teams. Draft order is determined by a weighted system that is divided into three groupings. First come the teams that had six or fewer wins last season, followed by non-playoff teams that had more than six wins, followed by the 12 playoff teams. In the supplemental draft, a team is not required to use any picks. Instead, if a team wants a player in the supplemental draft, they submit a "bid" to the Commissioner with the round they would pick that player. If no other team places a bid on that player at an earlier spot, the team is awarded the player and has to give up an equivalent pick in the following year's draft.[3] (For example, FS Paul Oliver was taken by the San Diego Chargers in the fourth round of the Supplemental Draft in 2007; thus, in the 2008 NFL Draft, the Chargers forfeited a fourth-round pick.)
I thought next years draft was supposed to be good/deep in the positions we need players at? If thats the case we will need every pick we can get, in case Tanny needs to trade up for the player we want. Would it be worth trading away one of our picks for a player who would be no more than a back-up - I certainly don't think so.

Consensus sounds like some team will probably spend a mid to late round selection, but he is not a pocket passer which raises injury concerns, he is surrounded by scandal and he won't be available to the team that drafts him until probably the beginning of week 6. Draft position means more than it has in the past ten years and low draft picks are valuable currency. It wouldn't be a crime to suggest that he goes undrafted.
The brad smith role is filled. Pryor will be useless this year since he can't practice till week 6. He will probably be useless next year too as he isn't NFL ready or anywhere close. By the time he might be ready to do something he will be in some sort of trouble. Pass.
I'm going to chime in with a resounding "Hell No!" Stay the hell away from this guy. We've got Greene, McKnight or LT to run the wildcat package this year. I would not waste any draft picks on Pryor.
I'd do it for a 7th. Shit, if Aaron Maybin was a 7th round pick, I'd take him. Why not this guy? lol It isn't farfetched that he could be Brad Smith explosive. What's the risk? We miss out on another Scotty McKnight? I know this is old and off topic but those teacher threats McKnight made were HILARIOUS! The New England Pastes could draft Pryor in the third round and ESPN would spend a week hailing the genius and calculated audacity of the selection.
