Just saw this on the wire....Not exactly sure why the 49'ers are shopping a trade but this guy is only a 2nd year player. I don't know a whole lot about him other than he hits like a truck. Interesting...thoughts? http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/blog/shutdown_corner/post/49ers-e-mailed-every-NFL-team-to-try-and-trade-T?urn=nfl-wp4598
In my opinion, he'd be an upgrade over recently signed safety DaJuan Morgan. If we can acquire him for a 6th or 7th round pick, then it's a steal.
If you can get him for peanuts it wouldn't be bad to add him to the safety rotation. His contract probably sucks though.
because he doesn't have a body of work to justify trading anything other than a 4th or 5th round pick for, and what do you think the chances are that the 49er's simply want a 4th or 5th round pick for last year's 2nd round pick? it isn't as if we are talking about picking him up because he was cut, he is going to cost the Jets to get him.
how much would he cost us financially? he hits hard...wouldnt mind bringing him in for a late round pick.@ worst,he could help fill the void of not getting Ihedigbo back.
He was a second round pick and most of his money was guaranteed. I looked his contract up yesterday...I think he's supposed to make $450,000 in 2011.
Well in that case I would be all for giving up a 6th or 7th for him. They can't be expecting much for a guy that they are actively looking to trade after only one season.
Pick him up, throw him in the box on passing downs, then send him at the QB, Brady specifically. He's a shitty tackler but when he connects he hits like a truck. Worth it if he ends Tom's career.
With proper coaching from a great coach like Mike Westhoff, a heavy hitter like Taylor Mays would be a force on special teams.
Hits hard, but can't cover, sounds vaguely familiar. He'd be a good ST player, but I'd be reaching if I said much else...
We already had this guy. His name was James Ihedigbo. He was a couple of years older and a couple million cheaper. I think if we wanted a player like him, we would have just held on to Diggs.
Mays is 3 inches taller, 30 pounds heavier, a couple tenths faster, and pretty much all muscle. I love dig but Mays is a freak of nature. His football IQ and and technique can use work but the guy may hit harder than anyone else in the league.
Dispicable comment if you were being serious!Should never wish for anyone's career to end due to a horrible injury!
