It seems SF was the only offer he got and that was because Crabtree is coming off an injury, I'm sure it's not guaranteed. It says tons about how worried every team in the league is about his off field troubles.
Pretty much, like the Steelers did going to the Super Bowl last year with guys like Emanuel Sanders and Antonio Brown.
Asomugha is much more well spoken than that. Cotchery wanted to be a starter. Todd Heap wanted to be a starter. I have no idea who "Sean" Ellis is. There has never been a player on the Jets with that name. Clearly you're not a fan of this team. Damien Woody was talking about retiring halfway through last season when his broadcasting future was starting to light up. Derrick Mason is choosing between the two teams with whom he has spent the entirety of his long career. The fact that he would even consider retiring with us speaks volumes.
-Santonio took less to stay -Plaxico took less and chose the Jets, said "it's all about Rex" -Todd Heap took way more money than the Jets were offering -Pool passed up on a "significant offer" elsewhere to sign with the Jets -LT took a paycut to stay and play for Rex, one year after signing here to play for Rex -Damien Woody retired.. he didnt go play for another coach, did he? -Shaun Ellis is looking for more money, not to play for a different coach -Bart Scott said his taking a paycut had a lot to do with his relationship with Rex -Year 1 Jim Leonhard took less than he was offered from Denver to come here I wonder sometimes if people believe the bullshit they post on here, or if they are just perfecting the art of trolling and get their kicks out of it..
Well, Mike Wallace and Hines Ward are the top two receivers on that team. Still, we have a marginally better TE and utilize our backs better in the passing game than Pitt does.
Well said, and bringing up Woody is laughable. The guy is at the end of his career coming off a serious injury.
I couldn't believe SF was the only offer he had even with the issues. I really thought he'd have a handful to select from. He was really, really solid the last year and change. Shit happens but I'm going to miss him.
I don't know, but his agent said he was offered more. Could be he was offered more in bonuses/incentives and what not.. I know the Giants supposedly offered around 4 million but only 1 mill guaranteed. The 49ers were believed to have made an offer, as were the Steelers.. so who knows.
It's not so much a question of being irreplaceable it's more from a consistency standpoint and familiarity with recievers for Sanchez entering his 3rd season. Cotch was as solid as they come and a great team mate. He will be missed for sure.
Yeah, the story I heard is that the Jets were the first team to offer him exactly what he was asking for...plus the $17k.
And he wasn't even as good as we thought. JennyVrentas Jenny Vrentas RT @MaioccoCSN SF deal for WR BEdwards is $1M base w/no guaranteed $. only gets $3.5M if he catches 90 & makes Pro Bowl #nyj
I'm not sure how anyone can say he was still as solid as they come after watching the team last season.
They do if they feel they aren't being treated fairly by the team they have left it all out on the field for their whole career. Cotch was tired of constantly getting pushed down the depth chart without a reason for it as he was a very good solid reciever for us.His Jet career didn't deserve to end this way.
So yesterday it was all "football is a business, deal with it" and today Cotchery is a selfish prick. Got it.
