Why is everyone riding Kerley's Jock so hard? He is a 5th round pick who caught a couple of passes in training camp! To concider him a lock at the #3 WR position on a team trying to make a championship run seems a bit of a stretch. Wait till he catches a pass in a pre-season game - you guys will all be going apeshit. He is a baller? Really? After a couple days of TC? This reminds me of another 5th round reciever that TGG had a hard on for multiple pre-seasons. I'm surprised no-one has declared BRING BACK the CLOWN Like it or not we need more depth, Mason or one of the other vet FAs left.
By all means, who would you have signed to get younger and better at the starting positions? We DID commit to getting younger at the position. We drafted two receivers this year and will draft another next year. Without any good options for a longer term #2, we signed stopgaps. You don't sign a younger receiver just to have one. Then you end up overpaying for underproduction.
Age is a legitimate concern, just one I don't happen to share. A lot of people are looking at Plax having two years off as a negative but I see it as a positive for us this year. Comparisions to Vick are ludicrous IMO because QB is it's own animal. For a QB to be succesful he needs to know what everyone is doing on every play, have his own timing down as well as be in tune with each skill position player on his team. Then he needs to be able read the whole defense as he steps up to the line. A WR needs to worry about developing chemistry with one person, worry about his own timing on routes and be able to read maybe 3 guys on any given play. The main concern is how quick he knocks the physical rust off. He appears to be in pretty good shape already and we will have a good idea of where he is in that department in a few weeks. Mason may or not be signed and if he is he has proven to be a durable player during his career. If he isn't signed we are looking at Kerley in the slot, which we would probably see a decent amount of even if someone like Mason is signed. If Kerley does see decent playing time the only age concern is Plax who has had two years off from beating his body into the ground during an NFL season.
Who called him a baller? That's right, our quarterback. Nobody is considering him a lock at the #3. He's the #3 if we can't sign Mason. Hell, he still might drop behind another vet. The only thing we're saying is that we won't be surprised if he does reasonably well. I'm not sure how "he actually could contribute" is riding his jock and going apeshit. We must have very different definitions of the term.
Because we were just going up in age from holmes, thats why he was first. I see what everyone is saying with filling the gaps for the season, and hey, maybe Plax will pull a Vick and surprise everyone. I just need to get used to Plax this season. and its only a one year deal, so if he blows it, goodbye.
Plax is here for one year if he sucks or goes to the pro bowl. If he sucks its obvious why he wont be back. If he does well the Jets won't be able to afford to resign him unless Tanny literally pulls cap space from his ass.
I've got 13000+, 12000 of them were written with a pair of tits bouncing in front of my face, and I still manage to use proper syntax and punctuation. Go figure.
If he has a Pro Bowl Year,(pending other key players not going down with injury and players playing to potential) then I can picture the Lombardi trophy is in the hands of the Jets, and we wouldnt need him in 2012 anyway.
Stop eating dicks and I'll stop treating you like you eat dicks. Posters like you do nothing about pollute great football talk in good threads.
