"• Rookie WR Jeremy Kerley, a fifth-round pick, was the player of the day. He made catch after catch, displaying acceleration and exceptional cutting ability. He had a couple of nice hook-ups with QB Mark Sanchez, who raved about him afterward: "He's a baller. There's always one big surprise at camp. For a guy who didn't know much of the playbook, he's picked it up really fast." With Holmes, Plaxico Burress (ankle) and Jerricho Cotchery (released) not available, Kerley got plenty of reps. Hey moron, cap hit doesn't equate to salary. He got the vast majority of his money already. The Jets saved 450,00 this year cutting him, close to 4MM in 2012. I am antagonistic because you are the biggest jackass on this forum and it's fucking annoying.
Now that it's looking less and less likely we'll get Mason, we better have another option without Cotch.
I'm just a little confused by the fact that the organization, with Sanchez going into his 3rd year,is not giving him some continuity at WR? Everyone always talks about the time it takes for a QB and WR to get on the same page and now Sanchez has to adjust to 2 new recievers? I just don't get it? I mean it's not like we are getting great players in return or younger talent. We get an unknown commodity in Burrass who's 34yo or so replacing a 28yo Edwards and we're going after a 37yo to replace a 29yo? Obviously the WR carousel will continue into next season given the age and 1 year contracts?I don't understand the thinking.
Santonio Holmes and Dustin Keller are back. They'll be the two most important players for him this year. Cotchery asked to be traded or released. Fans complaining about cutting him need to realize this. He didn't want to play for the Jets anymore.
when harris signed his extension & it was reported we saved 6.5 mil where did that money go? cause since then pool was resigned & that's all. i have NO idea where we are with the cap btw
I've been praising Kerley for weeks, he's going to be the best rookie in this camp and preseason. Let's hope the coaching staff gives him reps once we get under way in Sept.
6.5 mill? I might've missed something but I thought his tag number to his salary went from 10 to 9 mill.
The thing that annoys me is the Braylon aspect, for US the 3.5 would be a bargain cus you know he would ball out. Cotch wanted out despite Sanchez AND Rex asking him to stay..if we kept him around honestly I'd expect a repeat of his 2010 season with the drops.
wasent his original tender for $10 mil & when they gave him the extension his cap number went to around $4 mil for this year?
I doubt Braylon would have taken 3.5 mill to stay with the Jets. I have to think it would be a total ego thing, he was paid 6.5 last year. I just don't see that guy swallowing pride and doing that, unless of course pride was attached to Kerry..........
Reading through some Baltimore beat writers twitter it seems Mason is still in contact with Harbaugh. Seems some gamesmanship coming from him. He wants to be a Raven still i think.
