would jeter play for the red sox? shaun, you've made alot of money already. LT took a 50% pay cut for the team & @ 1.1 mil...that's not far off from your offer. sign up & stop tryin' to leverage a bigger pay day.

As a rotational player, he can offer a lot to the Jets still. Especially with his experience to mentor the youngsters, etc.

Last year he clearly went through stretches where he was banged up and worn down, which will happen when you are basically playing with just 4 defensive linemen, which was the case for much of the year, since Gholston doesn't count obviously. With Wilkerson in the mix this year, and probably Pitoitua, Ellis would only be playing certain packages. Is he worth a mutli-year multi-million dollar deal for that role? No.

But if you can get him for 1 year / 1.5-2 million dollars it would be worth it.. for more than just what he produces on the field. I don't see any other big money players coming in really so throwing him some extra money to ensure he comes back doesn't seem like the worst idea, if they have a few bucks to play with under the cap.

It would suck to lose release Cotchery and have Ellis sign with the Pats on the same day.. 2 fan favorite long-time Jets.

The Cotchery move I fully understand, but Ellis I think is important to bring back, for more than just his production on the field. If they don't bring Ellis back, I wonder if Rex will bring Trevor Pryce in for a look and see if he has anything to offer. Who better to teach the "new" Trevor Price (Wilkerson) than the real deal..

I never saw the guy do anything and then Rex would compliment him in the postgames.

While I 100% prefer to have Ellis back .... Trevor Pryce would be a great second option.

Not to mention Ellis was our most dominant player in the new England divisional game. He isn't exactly washed up.

If he signs in NE, I'll be throwing my Ellis jersey away.

    It's just business, afterall.

Ellis would become worthless to me if that happens. I just saw that news and it made me sick. I was just talking him up to some people saying he was one of my favorite Jets. Him going to NE would ruin his career here, no joke. He needs to win a title here. Going to NE would be awful.
