Thanks, Coach. And good luck this year. Your team made some bold moves. I like that. May the best team win.

I think what's holding it up is he isn't there yet and hasn't taken his physical.

well you hit the nail on the head with your post.

that same attitude though is what makes him able to do what he does at his age.

the bold moves were last year, this offseason was just about retaining who we could.

the continuity will be good though something we havent had in a minute. or at least QUALITY continuity.

Maybe the Ravens can do us a favor and knock the pats or steelers out so we can get a BAL-NYJ AFCCG

although honestly id much rather face a suprise team like the chiefs of last year and not worry about Manning, Big Ben, or the Ravens D

Hey...I'd love to see the Ravens be able to rise to the occasion and knock out the Pats AND the Steelers. But with all the cuts, and all the rookies we're going to be depending on this year, I'm not 100% convinced. So far, it looks as if the Ravens have done a mini-rebuilding job. But it's still way too early to tell. Maybe if Harbaugh gets a tattoo...

Ravens will not play the Pats this year. It is a shame they picked up Pollard. I'd have rather he went to Toronto/Buffalo.

As for Harbaugh and a tattoo, don't hold your breath.

Can you elaborate on this and speak to how Mason would should his dissatisfaction with not getting more targets?

Would he make comments in the press? sulk on the sidelines? sulk on the field? get into into it with Flacco?

Can you remember/specify just how outward he was with his dissatisfaction?

I am excited about Mason coming. He is a very good veteran receiver!

He is 37 sure, but its not like he relies on pure athletic ability, he gets by with savvy route running and excellent hands. Thus his game translates to make up for an aging body.

We need a receiver like him, one with excellent hands as Holmes and Burress have been known to drop passes in the past despite their abilities.

I can see Mason's biggest contribution being getting those tough middle distance 3rd downs.. whereby we don't need a big play just one long enough to extend the drive and a reliable, smart receiver will help Sanchez out immensely there.

Cotchery, or my favorite nickname I've seen on TGG "Yards After Cotchery" was a good player for us but it appears he had issues being a 3rd reciever and last season he had some key, uncharacteristic drops. I wish him well though I do feel the Jets got better today.

You could argue that we're both in the process of re-building our receiving corps. Right now the only relevant wide receiver with any experience in our offense is Santonio Holmes. Burress and Mason are both stop-gaps. Hopefully Kerley becomes our slot receiver of the future but we're definitely going to need a new #2 next season.

Kerley or McKnight will step up

    either way

next draft , the first two picks need to be WR/LB or LB/WR

Next years WR FA class is sick. We'll also be tight next year as well so we'll see.

Good post. I just feel like Mason will be a really good locker room presence and I'm excited to see him bust his ass to try to win a championship this year. LET'S GO JETS!

Mason can be a freakin diva. Just last season he got into it with flacco at the sidelines one time, I remember another game after an incomplete pass to him he just threws the ball into the air resulting in a penalty, and he's complained about not getting enough passes thrown his way.

I was not disappointed to see him leave the ravens. He was definitely a solid player, but having two similar #1 and #2 possession receivers in boldin and mason isn't the best thing. He can't stretch the field like he used too and don't expect much YAC. His route running skills and hands are still top notch though. He was one of joe's safety blankets and just about anything thrown his was that was catchable you can almost always expect him to come down with it.

the nail in the new england coffin last year was that pass to cotch after the patriots scored and closed the gap to 14-11. Cotch burned them on that play which was the basis for the jets answering right back with that amazing td catch by holmes. that play to cotch took all the air out of that stadium once again just when they were starting to gain momentum again.
    gonna miss you jerricho.

He was a great team mate from what I've read. Stuck up for Joe in the media all the time, especially this past off season with everyone bashing joe.

Don't like him getting into it with Flacco, but overall it seems like he'll be manageable.

    Perfect.

Exactly the type of receiver we (and more specifically Mark) needs..
