Let's say the Jets do have nearly $9 million to spend. What's everyone's preference regarding who else should be brought in? I assume the Jets FO thinks the team is OK at safety (Lowery, Pool, Smith, possibly Digs) and WR (let's assume Braylon isn't coming back). Any ideas?
your avatar just caused such a drastic dip in my blood pressure that i almost passed out. Thank you sir.
Stanford and SF run the same basic scheme as the Jets. They don't have Rex's special genius so there aren't as many crazy-ass blitzes and all but Vic Fangio is the defensive guy for the 49ers and he coached in Baltimore for ever.
...and that's why they can't use him. He's not a starting safety. Mays doesn't have the ability to cover, so Fangio's corners are at a disadvantage. If he came here, he'd be a DPR (designated pass rusher) and a special teamer like James Ihedigbo.
My thoughts as well, that or he thinks some of the teams over the cap right now, might have to cut a solid player or two. Other than that, Matt Roth and Tully are the only other options that come to mind.
I doubt we'll bring in Matt Roth. We have a ton of cash invested into our linebacking corps. Shaun Ellis and James Ihedigbo may return. We also need a blocking tight end.
How long to you make those deals though? Pouha's missionary pre draft adventure surely means he'll last longer than his age indicates. but how long do you commit money to him? same thing with Leonhard? i couldnt, nor think they should be starting past 2013 dunno how worth it, it would be. especially if a starter goes down between now and opening day. basically i love the idea just curious as to how long you think those deals should be
