I'm sad too, man. It sucks. But it's the modern NFL. Individual people are treated like chunks of meat in the NFL . . . it's quite unlike any other league.

I'm sure the millions they get every year help them get over it.

Yeah, because two years in jail have made it more likely for him to roll his ankle.

    What?

Ha, it really was. At one point in my life, I gave it some thought that it was actually true (which ultimately it is), but I don't let it get to me because as a fan, you are supposed to enjoy the sport you are watching/following without over analyzing their connection to your personal life.

Cotchery will be missed, one of my favorite Jets of all time.

No, being 34 and not playing football for 2 years makes it more likely for him to roll an ankle :p

Hey I'm just pissed... talk about a guy who never rants!

PS BTW what I meant is what PJ4Ever said... We took a risk on signing someone who's 34 and coming of 2 years of not playing football. And we took another risk in backing him up with a player who's 37 (even though I'm the first one to say he's always been healthy & productive). The older you gets the likelier it is for your body to break down, especially in the NFL... I think you can't deny that can you?

Risks are part of any business... Tanny & Rex feel these 2 risks are worth it, I think we should have handled it differently. I can't always agree 100% with what the Jets do can I? That said I will be extremely happy if I'm proven wrong and Mason & Burress shine as Jets!

Rolling an ankle running routes IS a shit happens situation. It's also an injury that would be taped up in a game.

Yeah, if he's cut, Cotch will have earned $16 million for 4 years of work. That's some good money. He'll probably actually earn MORE by being cut than he would have by staying. His salary was $1.8 million for each season left. If he works out and is healthy, he'll pull more than that.

I agree with that... what I fear as that both might be subject to nagging injuries through the season and that it will impact their contribution.
PS Rants don't have to be approved by the US board of logical congruency I believe!!!

I know it is... I just think a player like Burress will be more subject to a "shit happens" injury than many other players on our roster because of age and inactivity.

I'm not hoping it happens (just to be clear with everyone)...

Just speculation on my part: Cotchery might go home and play for the Carolina Panthers. They need help at receiver.

...the hell is the matter with you?

Jerricho Cotchery is the one coming back from a pretty serious injury. Derrick Mason is tough as nails and he's coming in healthy.

I can understand the concern for Burress because he's been out of the league for a few years, but think Mason is injury prone because of his age is stupid.
