Derrick Mason entered the league in 1997, and Sammy Baugh was born in 1914...

So if Mason had a TD catch in his rookie year from Sammy Baugh, that means Baugh was playing for Oilers as a QB at the age of 83. Are you sure of this?

Cotchery is better then Mason. Just cause his numbers are better doesn't mean shit. He prob had 100x more balls thrown to him.

    I'm guessing he's making a crack at Mason's age.

I def agree on this... for those who were sad to see Cotch leave 'cause he was an example... well, Mason can set twice the example of how to go about your business as a WR.

It was a failed attempt on my part to say Derrick Mason is old and has been in the league forever...

Cotchery has had more receiving yards than Mason one time in his entire career.

Cotch is younger, but unless Mason falls off a cliff at 37 he's going to be as good if not better than Jerricho.

Mason had 13 more targets and 20 more catches. Nice try though.

Derrick Mason had more targets because he's the better player. He's an incredibly consistent player.

As I posted, 13 more targets and 20 more catches than Cotchery. His bullshit doesn't add up...

Derrick Masons hands are like super glue. But on the other hand id rather keep cotch rocket. They both will literary put up the same numbers on this offense

Because he is a quality player that can bring added leadership to the offense. He may be 37 but he has had 1000 yards seasons 4 of the last 6 years and even though he is 6 years older then Chad Ochocinco he put up similar numbers to him last year. This guy in the lsot gives us possibly the best receiving corps in the league. How many #3 CB's can cover him? I think it also makes Keller a much better weapon. If this signing is true I'm expecting a huge season from Keller.

This will take the sting out of losing Cotch.

If we're going to get the same kind of production on the field, then I'd rather cut ties with the injured Cotchery to save money for the future.

Mason will likely sign an incredibly low deal. He'll also bring tons of experience to our receiving corps - it will rub off on Jeremy Kerley.

    1. I think Cotchery's back situation is worse than reported. Maybe Tanny is thinking about IR. In that case, you NEED that 3rd receiver.

    2. Whether that or not, Mason brings a lot to the table - his leadership, route running, experience, mentoring. Just about everything a young corp of WRs (Kerley, McKnight) need. You have to like this move.

    3. Holmes and Mason alone will be hard to stop. Expect a lot of 3rd down balls flying in Mason's way. This will ease the burden Burress has to carry early on.

I completely agree but cotchery is one of everyones favorite player to wear a jets uniform. He's made some big catches for us . He's a leader on our team

Because Holmes, Plax, Cotch, Mason, Keller, LT, McKnight.

    Yee-ha.
