Doesn't make any sense for Tanny to cut off that much cap space for this season if he's not planning something big.
If he brings back Braylon on a one year deal, I will j in my p's. (...before someone says it's not happening, it's just wishful thinking. I know it's highly unlikely)
Sure, if the final league year rules weren't in place. There's a reason why he was the only one not to get a deal last year.
A one year deal could ABSOLUTELY make sense financially now that we know Tanny shoved everything off to deal with next year. It just doesn't seem likely from the "guy's kind of an idiot off the field" perspective.
If the front office was "done" (at least with high end signings) this contract would NOT be structured the way it is. If the whole plan was to go into this season pretty much status quo then the contract would have been structured to be more future friendly. The fact that it is written so it saves SIX MILLION this year shows that there is SOMETHING relatively big in the works.
Very interesting... TheJetsStream Manish Mehta #Jets signed Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie & David Harris to monster contracts. SH + DH's cap # for 2011: $7.25M.
this shouldnt have surprised anyone after demeco ryans got 8 mill a year ... well deserved, but A LOT to have tied up at ilb ... def gonna have to address olb through the draft now
Supposedly Braylon's camp said they'd like a long term deal worth about $25 million earlier today, but his agent hinted that teams want him to sign a one year deal to prove himself. If he's going to settle for that, he may as well play here again.
There has to be, otherwise Tannenbaum needlessly backloaded both Harris and Holmes deals. He's definitely got something major planned, otherwise he'd never risk the future cap headaches...
