Tannenbaum, Ryan and Johnson all said yesterday they are not done. Expect more signings and expect at least one of them not to be a depth guy.
I love Harris and his unquestioned talent he adds to this team..... with that said DAMN that is a big contract......
He also played for peanuts the last few years, albeit a rookie deal. Think of it being $38mil over 6 years. Harris never said a word about holding out. He deserves every last penny of that contract.
The cap isn't going to grow by THAT much next year unless there is a sudden and massive influx of income to the league. I really don't think most people have any clue about NFL cap financials. It's just "sign, sign, sign" and it'll work out forever.
More from Twitter: AdamSchein Adam Schein Great job by jets extending david harris and giving him 29.5 mil in guaranteed money. He is an absolute star. TheJetsStream Manish Mehta This epitomizes #Jets David Harris: "There's really no Core 4. There's a Core 20. This team is built around a lot of young guys." #nyj
What Harris played for in the previous contract is what he signed up for, so I don't buy that premise to pay him above and beyond. Harris is an outstanding player, but the Jets have set a new bar for paying MLBs. The structure seems cap friendly, but other MLBs will take notice around the league.
RichCimini Rich Cimini First-year cap number for David Harris is $4M. Cap number on franchise tender was $10.4M. Savings: $6.4M. More money for FAs. #Jets
Well here we go, let the signings continue.... RichCimini Rich Cimini First-year cap number for David Harris is $4M. Cap number on franchise tender was $10.4M. Savings: $6.4M. More money for FAs This should put the Jets about 10 mil under again counting exemptions.
