Mount McKinnie isn't going to sign anywhere to be a backup. If we hadn't already re-signed Hunter and Turner, I'd be all for signing him as a stop gap right tackle because he's a dominant run blocker. Shaun Ellis will likely return to the Jets as a rotational end.
I'm surprised no one is mentioning Emanuel Cook. He could fill Dig's role. Darrelle Revis individually acknowledged him without being asked too today on a 1050 interview saying that he needs to and has been stepping up.
Well he aint gonna get starters money, he showed up to camp morbidly obese, hes a 10 year vet, and hes got some well publisized off-field issues. Im not saying any of it is going to happen, its just my ideal finish to the off season. Everytime i see BT on the field i vomit in my mouth a little bit.
What doesnt compute, when the guys in shape hes a solid left tackle. If he wanted a chance at a ring and would take less money id sign him in a second. Whats so complicated?
my issue is, i want my backup to be someone ready to step in at a moments notice. and someone with conditioning or work ethic problems might not be the best fit in that regard
As far as I know he never had any issues with that during the season (his boat fiasco if i recall correctly was over the summer and his issue with his weight this year was again over the summer). Fact is the guy is a fucking monster, and never gave up a sack in college or high school (not even in practice), and if he doesnt sign up anywhere and is willing to take less coin id sign em up in a heartbeat.
Cook is a Bob Sanders clone. I'm not over-exaggerating either. His problems have always been mental. The guy was an early second round talent before he fucked up in school at Carolina.
makes sense as a DE in their new 4-3, I assume they would go Cunningham- Wilfork- Haynesworth-Roth up front Mayo-Spikes-Guyton at LB.
TheJetsStream Manish Mehta #Jets signed Santonio Holmes, Antonio Cromartie & David Harris to monster contracts. SH + DH's cap # for 2011: $7.25M. 3 minutes ago Favorite Retweet Reply
Makes sense to go for it all the next 2 or 3 years. Sanchez is the only big piece under 25, so they are going to be a cap mess in 2013, but right as guys are declining anyway
2013 won't be a problem since I'm guessing Pace & Scott won't be on this team anymore... it's 2012 I'm worried about.
2012 is a mess too. 2013 is at 85 before cro, SH and Harris, who with the backloaded contracts probably combine for 30-35 million, that brings you to 100. I assume they have to cut Scott and Pace to save 14 million, but Sanchez will re-negotiate 2012 down which will raise his 2013 hit, so say.. 90 or so million in 2013 and that is before resigning or replacing Keller and Greene with no safeties on the roster, no D-lineman other than Wilkerson. 2012 the problem is getting under the cap 2013 the problem is there isn't much cap to replace half the team becoming FA.
You just said he isn't in shape and that he has off-field issues. We have a very good coaching staff and a strong locker room, but we can't pick up every basket case and turn them into a Pro Bowler (note I'm going off your original statement, not any knowledge of his issues).
your assuming the cap doesn't increase before then.there will be newtv deals and with the 16 week thuesday night schedule probably up for bid in 2013 there shoukd be a significant jump in the cap.
suprised no word of any TE's on our radar. with harstock gone and heap visiting last week, i'd have thought we'd be actively looking at others. id really love to sign boss, i think he would be a great fit
