Currently, yeah I'd buy that. Obviously the Yanks are the greatest franchise in sports so the Pats don't compare but I see similarities btw the pats always beating the Jets in the '00s and then the jets striking back last year. The difference is when the Sox finally beat the Yanks they topped it off w/ a WS title while we couldn't win the SB.
If it means the Jets will end a long Championship drought this year, then they can call us the Red Sox or whatever the hell they want.
Jets compared to the Red Sox is a decent comparison but the Pats are no where close to the Yankees. If anything the Steelers are the Yankees. The Pats won all 3 recently so they would be more like the Marlins. (Who won in 97 and 2003) The Pats have no stored past, and only became relevant in the Brady era.
The Packers would be the NFLs version of the Yankees, Pitt leads w/ SBs but GB crushes Pitt in overall championships. Pitt was a joke of a franchise until the 70s.
Nobody counts the pre-superbowl era. Didn't players have day-jobs back then? smh @ Bart Starr completing passes against plumbers and school teachers.
It's not a bad analogy. Not only are the Pats the establishment, the ones with all the recent success, but the way both teams handle themselves is similar. The Pats get the calls, yes, but they also handle themselves in a very tight manner. Winning is expected over there, it's not a joy. And everyone goes about doing things the Yankriot way, not speaking out. They take their cue from Belichick. The Jets, like the early 2000s Red Sox, are the upstarts, brash, the idiots, if you will. They don't mind saying what's on their mind. And the Jets take tremendous joy in winning. It hasn't become mundane or expected. Look at the fans, as well. Pats fans who in the summer hate the Yankees act just like Yankees fans in the fall. They talk about the "Patriot way," and whenever they are in a debate, they point to the rings. They do ALL the things they hate in Yankees fans, just later in the year. Has anyone had a football debate with a Patriots fan that hasn't had the word "rings" mentioned? Just like Yankees fans...
Of course they count. We should ignore almost 40 years of bad football(ONE postseason appearance from 1933-1971- a game they lost 21-0) and just focus on the 70s-current? GB is the best franchise in the history of the sport and it's not really close.
Weren't you dismissing the Giants history just last year? The history of the Packers and Giants are pretty comparable.
JennyVrentas Jets have signed FA safety DaJuan Morgan, per source. 2008 3rd-round pick by KC, played for Colts in 2010.
Hmmm...I'm guessing they consider him an upgrade over those still available, like Pool? I hope they bring Dig back.
They said a week ago they won't be bringing Pool back. They said today talks are going nowhere with Dig.
I knew Pool was considered low on the priority list. How could talks with Dig not be working out? There has to be a pretty small gap between the minimum and what he is expecting, yes?
The Giants won 3 championship games and lost 11, they are more known for losing championships- the Buffalo Bills of the pre-SB era. The Packers won 6 championship games and lost 3. 6-3 is better than 3-11, right?
I don't know, maybe he wants to start but this was from earlier. Aug. 02, 2011 1:35 p.m. - by Lisa Zimmerman - No progress for Jets in re-signing Ihedigbo There is still no progress in re-signing S James Ihedigbo. While, per sources, his return remains a possibility, a deal is no closer to getting done than it was a few days ago. Jets RapidReports
We need depth on both lines (hullo ellis/mckinney), an upgrade from eric smith, and a trade of BT/J-co for a starting caliber OLB/WR.
