The biggest play in the Pats upset was made by Cotchery. Sometimes guys are more important than their production. Not every player needs to be a star, you need role players and Cotch is a guy who knows his role and no matter how many times his role changes he adapats w/o complaint. He is the ultimate team guy and we have lost tons of great LR guys the past couple of years, we are playing w/ fire to let another go for minimal cap savings. Cotch was also HURT last year, did you see the play he got hurt on in the Cleveland game? That's the type of player he is, IF he is healthy(he may not be) I would expect a much better year from Cotch.
Correct. I would give him a pass for last season's shitty performance, because of his back injury, but management might not be as forgiving with him heading into a contract year.
if traded, i think San Diego would be a perfect fit for him. cotch played w/ rivers @ nc state & the bolts current number 2 is a FA (Floyd). AJ Smith is big on character players as well.
I personally enjoy how active we have been during the past few offseasons. Keeps it exciting and so far we have managed to steadily improve this way. But we need to keep some of our guys, if only for stability in the locker room. We don't want to turn into Washington.
It would really be painful losing my favorite player. I am fond of role players and they are the cement of a good team. Too many egos is a bad mixture to win... The only case I would understand is if he is in bad condition following his injury. But in this case, which team would trade any pick for him ???
That may all be true and none of it matters a bit. They have obviously decided he's done with the Jets. Time to move on and see what they plan to do once they can free up his cap space.
None of us have any idea who teh good "locker rom" guys are. Im sure the Jets know hes done or its unlikely he'll be his old self anymore
and maybe its time we can count on Sanchez making his WRs better instead of worrying that he needs his WRs to hold his hand and make him better
They haven't decided anything. Some people do know. If he can't play anymore that is a different story but if he can it would be a mistake for many reasons to let him go.
Stated in another trade if Cotch goes it better be to resign Braylon, yes i know its not gonna happen
Can someone explain the reasoning to me? Does he make too much money? Is he unhappy being a 3rd option? Does he not get along with his teammates? This just seems to have popped up out of nowhere.
It has be to bring Braylon, it literally makes no sense if that wasnt the case, Pats made a splash, Eagles made an even bigger splash, Braylon and Plax would be a big splash
Too much scratch (and especially too much cap space) for an ok player who can't really play special teams when you're really thin at OL, the defensive front seven, the defensive backfield, and special teams types. Better to use the cap space elsewhere.
If I remember correctly, Tanny in the PressConference pretty much confirmed that the JETS are no longer interested in him.
