They still wouldn't need J-Co nor would it save the Jets money like they want to do by trading him.

Osi wants a brand new contract...

I question how good Osi even is or is he so good because of all the great players around him?

I could see the Lions having interest and Mayhew has been active using mid round picks to pick up players.

I don't know how confident they are with Young as the the 2 full-time. Cotch would give the rook some time to get acclimated to the pro game.

I believe they feel Cotchery is not 100% after back surgery.

Sure sounds like he won't be on the roster for first game of regular season.

Its so crazy how quickly things change in the NFL. One year a guy seems untouchable, a complete franchise player, the heart of the team. The next year he's on the trading block. I'm not saying I disagree, I realize it is what it is (business). Pretty soon that "Flight boys" t-shirt is going to be a relic.

I wonder with all this publicity if they can even pull back from getting rid of him now.

I never really thought Cotch was untouchable.

I agree that's a strong word. I'll just say he was a fan favorite.

    Gangstabackwardshells,

There's a salary cap. The Jets are up against it. The Jets are FURTHER up against it next year. They have no money for Osi. After signing Osi with fake money they don't have, they will have less fake non-money for Braylon. That is a severe net loss of fake non-money.

Aside from the fact that I love Cotchery the player, how many leadership guys are we going to continue losing? From year 1 to year 2 we lost Thomas Jones, Faneca, Leon, and Douglass. Now we lose Big Wood, Jenkins, Pryce, Taylor, Richardson and possibly Cotchery/Ellis/Digs. Granted, I feel that we have a lot of leaders still remaining in house (Sanchez, Tomlinson, Mangold, Dbrick, Moore, Scott, Harris, Revis, Leonhard) that's still a lot of locker room presence to lose in 2 years.

Our core players are stepping up as leaders, as they should. It's a big part of why Sanchez has the C. I'm really not sure half the "leaders" people on the board lament are even looked at that way in the locker room.

I think a lot of you guys will realize how much youre overrating Cotch when we realize that no one wants him. Or that the best offer we get is a 5th rounder

Yup, that's exactly why I don't want to trade him. There's just dangling him out there hoping somebody overpays or gets rid of a disgruntled player that could fit here.
