I'm not really hearing the humility from Plax that I heard from Vick but words don't mean anything. If he comes in, works hard and is a good teammate he can say w/e he wants so long as he's not being a distraction

Were you being serious there? Braylon is gone. There is no way the Jets sign him now after bringing Plax into the fold. He is here to replace him, and there are several reports out there already stating that Braylon and the Jets will not be making any deal. I'd love to bring Braylon back as much as anyone, but the reality is what it is. He's gone, and the Jets have moved on. If there was a chance he was coming back, they never would have signed Plax.

He wont complain or be late as a Jet if hes smart. The guy probably has one more NFL run in him after this season and right now a lot are questioning if hes worth it. He should put on his best act this year as a Jet to help sell himself come next FA.

Very good move I like it---------cheap and big reward. Heard Manish on football network--hinted that Cromartie deal would be done today-------------also heard him say that we could still bring Edwards back even after we signed Burress-------crazy stuff

true, but then again public image of a dude who shot himself in the leg (lolwut) vs. a guy who killed dogs, and ran a gambling ring.

like, if it were me i wouldn't think i'd need to be as humble as vick either...

but yeah, as long as he comes in and works his ass off, which ironically is why i liked braylon. after the shit show that was cleveland, i thought he endeared himself with his work ethic in ny. i really need to get over it, that ship has sailed.

    It's literally all you do.

Guys very often come out of prison in way better shape than they went in.

It's really not inconceivable that Plax is back at it like old times. He doesn't need to be everything he used to be. 70% of it makes the guy one of the best complementary receivers in football.

People seem to forget we're talking about a guy who, in his prime, used to strike fear into the hearts of secondaries everywhere.

This isn't GREAT news, it's too much of a toss up.. people are just stoked cause we're making some sort of a splash.. I mean the reality is the dude hasn't played in 2.5 years.. and he shot himself. When Plaxico was relevant so was the likes of TJ houshfhfenjkqwmd. I just don't think this is anything to go crazy over.

Obviously Braylon is a better fit, but he's more than double the price and would not sign a one-year deal.

My wife just had a kid this morning so we named him Plaxico.

    I hope it works out.

I guess it'll be a little weird if Plaxico wears #17 (Braylon's number).

Yes i was being serious, if Braylon comes back too the Jets and says listen i want to be a Jet i want too win a ring here and retire here, i then think there can be a fair deal resolved, the Jets giving plax a chance on a 1 year deal doesnt say too me 100% bye bye Bray, it doesnt look good of course but if the sides can agree too something fair i dont see it being out of the realm of possibility. The Jets arent stupid, if Plax doesnt pan out we have.Holmes and questionmarks ( cotch because of his health). We are a win now team and this squad doesnt want too take any risks on the way too a championship.

Now im not delusional, getting braylon back with Cro here would be tough but theres still something telling me its not totally out of the question.

Interesting both Giants and 49ers offered potentially mor money but he went for the guaranteed deal & the Jets.

I definitely am in the camp of "Wait and see" with Burress, and am personally disappointed they did not bring back Bray but stop comparing this to Vick...cant compare QB to wider receiver.

I will bite my tongue on this, but I do not like this at all.

Plax over Braylon? Really? This had better work out. Really.

FYI, Turner has been with the Jets for most of the 2010 season. We cut him once and picked him back up. He might have some potential, but I doubt he turns into much of an NFL WR

Did he really say that? As I mentioned before in the thread, I'd love to bring Braylon back as much as anyone, but I can't see it with Plax now in the fold. To me, his signing is basically the Jets waving the white flag on signing Braylon.

of course it matters, quarterback is such a comprehensive position, especially when you play like michael vick. Being a wide receiver only involves a few things. The plays aren't that complicated. Routes are the same basically. Michael vick had to learn a new system in which he's responsible for every player on the field, and he also had to play behind mcnabb. not to mention he didn't really dedicate himself to the film room/understanding the offense till AFTER he got out of prison. that wasn't going to happen in a few months.

to use the vick comparison is beyond retarded

Right and don't forget that Plax was never to be confused with the likes of a Hines Ward in down the field blocking so the fact he hasn't had to block anyone is meaningless. He'll get knocked around enough in practice and pre-season to get his game conditioning ready.

Some of the funniest clips from the giants were seeing him "attempt" to block someone. Maybe blocking their view is his idea of down field blocking.

Good hands don't fade with time nor does route running. Speed, agility and jumping may but that's not really his game and at 6'5" he doesn't need a huge vertical to go up and out jump defenders.

I am totally meh on this. Like everyone said 1000 times in this thread, I would have rather had Edwards as the #2.

He is 34 and that really gives me pause, no matter how much he may have worked out in prison.

It is a cheap, calculated risk so I can not complain too much.

FTR, he may have fucked up with the gun and shooting himself like a freaking moron.......... 2 years? This dude got rail roaded. Hopefully, he is full of rage/anger, whatever and really goes 150% to prove himself.
