Wow. Before the Braylon trade, Cotchery was the best WR in New York between the Jets and the Giants. We got to the AFCC game with him as second WR two years ago. He's had one bad season that happened to coincide with a back injury and aside from that he's been a great presence on the sideline and one of the most sure-handed WRs on this team. I'm all for keeping as much WR talent around Sanchez as possible but I wouldn't feel nervous about Cotchery as the #2. Now, if it was David Clowney or Patrick Turner then I could understand your feelings completely.
I agree, he may still be very good but I do not see him being 24 TD good no matter who the QB or the whatever the system
So Randy will not be coming after all. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/08/01/randy-moss-decides-to-retire/ Randy Moss decides to retire Posted by Gregg Rosenthal on August 1, 2011, 1:05 PM EDT Getty ImagesIt doesn’t matter what kind of shape Randy Moss is in now: The surefire Hall of Fame player is going to retire. ESPN’s Adam Schefter got the word from Moss’ agent Joel Segal: ”After weighing his options and contemplating offers, he’s decided to retire,” Segal said. It’s not a huge shock to us. We suspect Moss did not have many attractive offers, and he didn’t want to take a huge paycut to do the Terrell Owens thing and keep taking one-year deals. In fact, we predicted that Moss would retire many times on PFT. It’s a shame that Moss’ career ended on such a sour note, but most great careers do. One of the singular players of his generation, Moss is second all time in career touchdowns and fifth in yards. He’s in the discussion as one of the best receivers and big play threats ever. We’ll have more on this story shortly.
So, I'm interpreting this retirement statement as saying, Randy wanted a huge amount of money without having to put forth the effort on the field. Ala Terrel Owens who took one year deals, but was always willing to try and outperform everyone else on the field as a result. Too bad, he could have had even more impressive numbers career wise, with a better work ethic.
Moss is retired so this doesnt matter, and Im not saying we needed to bring him in. Im glad we got Plax...But when someone brings up Moss and his three route skills, all I can say is that Moss was probably the most productive WR in the NFL while he tried...with his three route skills.
more like 2 routes, and he was so productive that 3 different teams couldnt use him last year, and so many teams are interested now he had to retire. he is done, and made the right call
He ran all the routes when he was younger. I was talking about this year and I wrote the before he retired.
dude was a big part of arguably the two greatest offenses of all time. He never won a Super Bowl, though. famous for mooning green bay fans and saying "straight cash, homey" when asked how he paid his fines Other moments: *Giant 'fro time. *Bumping a female traffic cop with his SUV.
All Moss jokes aside the man was one of the biggest threats ever. I just wish he would have given it one more shot if not for any other reason then to put a better ending to the story.
If Plax or Holmes gets hurt during the regular season and we're headed for the playoffs, I'd be totally down for trying to get him to un-retire for a playoff run with us.
