Other than Edwards and Holmes (because I love them both), these are the players that I feel we need to see back with the Jets this year. Antonio Cromartie: Yes, Nnamdi Asomugha would become a dream come true for our defense playing opposite of Revis, but lets be realistic, other than Aso? Cromartie is the best overall CB on the market right now. Not only does he know our defensive system under Rex Ryan, but Revis, Cromartie and Wilson should combine for the best trio of CB's this season. I'm expecting big things out of our secondary this season, and Cromartie is a top 10 CB. Lets bring back Cro. Brodney Pool: Overall? Pool had a disappointing season for us last year, only recorded 53 tackles, 1 sack, 1 INT and 1 forced fumble; but there is no denying that our defense played better when Pool was on the field. It's also a good sign that he managed to stay healthy for us. I did enjoy watching Pool during the playoffs though, and thats why I wanna see Pool back with the Jets. He put up 20 tackles with an INT during the playoffs. Thats the type of player we could have in Pool. 20 tackles during 3 games comes out to an average of 6.6 tackles per game, which would average out to 106.6 during the course of a 16 game season. Now that Eric Smith is all but gone, it's a must that we bring back Pool. Shaun Ellis: Just look at what Ellis did against the Patriots during the playoffs last year. He's not washed up, this man still has plenty of football left in the tank at the age of 34. If anything, he's the perfect example for young defensive lineman such as Kenrick Ellis and Muhammad Wilkerson to learn from. James Ihedigbo: He's been a great special teams player, and now that Eric Smith is all but gone... He's a player that could really step up and have a break out season as a role player for our defense this year. He's a hard hitter too, which is something that I love about Ihedigbo. Steve Weatherford: He's a no brainer. He averaged 42.6 yards per punt, which isn't great, but more importantly? He placed 42 punts inside the 20 yard line, good enough for #1 in the league. Drew Coleman: You won't find a better #5 CB than Drew Coleman. He came up clutch last year with 4 sacks, 5 forced fumbles and an INT. He's another player thats been with Rex Ryan for 2 years, I wouldn't mind having Drew come back for another. Nick Folk: Yes, he had some bad games last year, his FG% of only 76.9 wasn't pretty, but he did make 30 FG's; good enough for 4th overall. A long of 56 really goes to show how strong of a leg this kid has. Folk was money from 20/29 yards out, going 10/11 (91%). He was pretty good from 30-39 yards out, going 14/16 (88%). From 40-49 yards out he really struggled though, only going 3/6 (50%). He only went 2/5 from 50+ yards out, but then again, I cant fault a kicker for missing a FG from 50+ yards out. Folk did come up big time during the playoffs though. That kick to beat the Colts on the road wasn't an easy one. The pressure was on. I'm willing to see Folk back with the Jets. Players that I feel we can move forward without... Brad Smith: Just like Leon Washington... Brad Smith is one hell of a talent, I loved the dude, but I'm confident we won't miss a beat without Smith on the roster. He'll be missed on special teams, but then again, that's what we have Mike Westhoff for. I also have high hopes for Joe McKnight as our kick returner of the future. All in all? He's never been a productive slot WR and now that Sanchez is heading into his 3rd year, I feel it's time that Sanchez runs the offense and something like the Wildcat formation shouldn't be needed inorder to make it to the next level. Jason Taylor: He had an ok year with us last year, made some big time plays, but I believe he's done. Time to move on and find another OLB through FA. Tony Richardson: I've loved having T-Rich over the past 3 years, he's done an outstanding job, but I believe it's time to move on. Now is the time for John Conner to start as our lead blocking FB. I'm ready for the terminator and hopefully he's learned a lot under Richardson. Trevor Pryce: We have some new blood on the defensive line. Say hello to Kenrick Ellis and Muhammad Wilkerson. We have no room for Pryce, an old player who pretty much did nothing for us last year. He's no Shaun Eillis and that's for sure. Lance Laury: You can find these types of players on the practice squad. He won't be missed. Kellen Clemens: He may know the offensive playbook, but I'm ready to move on without Kellen on the roster.
Am I reading this right? Did you mean to put down Santonio Holmes and put down Aso? By the looks of this, Aso is a Jet right now. aha I wish.
Not a Jet, but most reports are saying that the Jets have extended an offer. No further word, though.
Ok, then he's a Jet. We've already made an offer? No way Aso turns down a chance to play for a team that's coming off of two AFC Championship Games featuring guys such Rex Ryan, Revis and a franchise QB in Sanchez. No way he turns us down... He's a Jet boys. Going from the Raiders to the Jets is like going from the O's to the Yankees. It's about to go down.
And if he goes to a really shitty team like the 49ers, it will be like going from the O's to the Rays.
Love the Jets, have been a Jet fan my entire life! Influenced by my Dad a huge Broadway Joe fan. What i would like to see: Re-Sign: Cromartie - Ellis - Holmes - B. Smith Sign: Asomugha -Clabo - Kiwanuka Trade for: S. Smith (car) With a few other minor signing and re-signings we'd be good to go! I obviously know it's highly unlikely but it's just what i would like to see happen. :jets:
Revis Aso Cromartie Who's passing on that defense? That would be insane too bad it'll never happen. Welcome to the board.
Maybe I got overexcited noting that the offer has been made under that heading. Just felt like the thing to do.
Yeah, I'm glad Brad Smith went to the Bills instead of teams such as the Patriots, Colts, Steelers, Chargers or especially the Dolphins. At least with the Bills, I can pull for Brad Smith 4 times per season against the Pats and Phins. I'll miss Brad Smith, in the same types of ways that I've missed Leon Washington... but it's time for Sanchez to take the next step. We shouldn't need an offensive gimmick type of formation to compete with the best of em. You never see teams such as the Patriots, Steelers or Colts having to run a wildcat formation, and that's because they all have franchise QB's.
What do you think is going to happen with our S's such as Pool, Smith and Ihedigbo? Has anyone heard of any rumors surrounding these guys?
