All the kickers we ever had make me nervous but the guy won a playoff game for us with a clutch kick plus an OT game so that's good enough for me

There are about 5 teams in football who aren't scared to death of their kicker. I can live with Folk.

The worst case scenario is he sucks and we cut him in the middle of the season, there are always plenty of potential replacements out there.

Folk is fine, and he's still young, so hopefully he gets better with age.

Exactly. He has plenty of room for improvement.

I re-watched the colts playoff game from last year the other day. I still thought he was going to miss the kick even though I already knew the outcome.

"same setting" along with the fact that's he's a year removed from his hip injury should help

if not, then gotta grab the best available scrap heap kicker,,,they can all drill PAT's and for the most part make the 40yd FG's....the Doug Brien game-on-the-line gag artists excluded....even if they don't have Jay Feeley's 'much-needed' tackling skills...

I'm familar with how much Folk sucks, so I'd rather have him than another bum. We weren't wasting cap on a kicker so your dreams of Mare, Akers or whoever were silly thoughts.

There really weren't any other options.

I swear it looked like it was going wide right for about 3 seconds... Thank god it curved back left. All in all, he earned my respect with that pressure FG.

my"same (Jet) setting" scenario was about keeping Folk, get it?
And, IF he should somehow prove otherwise, then go the 'scrap heap' route. Capeche?

    Nice.

Belichick's got a good memory--guess he never forgot that goofy 7-6 loss with "85" kicking what proved to be the game-winning PAT.

and fwtw, Ocho in that game (Graham-with-Cincy at the time-on the sidelines with a groin pull) hit a kickoff to the NE 9-yd.line, so I guess this is a good special teams insurance move by Bill ... still, given recent history, I think our CB can and will shut down New England's newly accquired backup place kicker.

He'll get a short deal and Nick Novak will get a chance to beat him out in TC.

Where's WSW to complain about this?

I'll echo that. Folk made the kicks we truly needed. I'm confident he and his sports psychologist hugged it out during the off season.

And speaking of the other kicking game... I hope they cut Weatherford. He screwed up royally vs. the Packers, and he shit the bed late in the season.

Hate to see Brad Smith go, although his value is hurt by the new kick-off spot. And it didn't take other defenses long to figure out our Wildcat last season.

I'm pretty sure it's a one-year deal, and there will be a competition in camp for the spot. I read that the other day.

I'm not anti-Folk. He didn't perform too bad, and after we've seen guys like Brien and Nugent, I'd think Jets fans would cut the guy a little more slack.

I shouldn't have to sit on the edge of my seat for a 28yard field goal

Plus if I am not mistaken, John Hall was know to take a toke every now and then. But damn he was fun to watch.
