I know it's probably in the other thread, but it's worthy of it's own since it's an actual agreement. via: Every Jets beat writer on twitter.
I love this signing of Wayne Hunter. He really played great for the Jets after Woody went down last year. I believe Rex Ryan also considered Wayne Hunter our most athletic offensive lineman. Games are won in the trenches, whether he's a starter for us this year or a not; it's great to have Hunter back on the roster for added depth. Same goes for Woody... Bring him back as well. Woody is an O-Lineman who can play all 5 positions on the offensive line which could be key if any of our starters go down.
Wayne Hunter is not the kind of RT I want protecting Sanchez. He's a viable backup, but not a bookend RT.
Good news. Wayne was one of the guys who could've tested the market to see if he could be a starter somewhere else, and resigning him is a great start to rebuilding our o-line depth. Glad it got done so soon so Tanny can concentrate on other things.
i like this move alot since we dont have to break in a tackle this year id still bring in someone else for depth though
he did good filling in for woody and will probably get better getting more reps with the 1's.right now he's has to be considered the odds on favorite to be the day one starter
I'd rather have a better road grader and someone who can stop power rushers. A veteran guy is needed at RT. Someone equal to Woody's ability.
I'm very confident that Ducasse is gonna surprise alot of people. I'm willing to bet that one of the factors for Woody retiring is that he didn't want to have to compete for that RT spot. W/ Woody's depleted body and Ducasse a year stronger and wiser, I'm not so sure Ducasse doesn't beat him outright for the job.
RT don't grow on trees... especially one like Woody. Hunter will do fine for a year and give us time to see what we have in Ducasse. 4/5 of the line is still the same and Hunter has been here 3 yrs... no reason to panic or be disappointed.
Agreed. Hunter is a nice player because he's a solid player who retains continuity. Ducasse has more upside at RT, and he could end up taking the spot. If not, we have presumably a cost-effective decent option at RT.
