With Cro aiming 2nd highest contract for corners after Namdi, Tanny can utilize his time better and lock up Santonio and Braylon. They are both a bigger need than a corner. We just drafted corner in the first round last year. Wilson should be just fine. He played decent in the last few games, as MickD mentioned. We'll need a new nickel corner though and Im sure we can find someone in the FA for less than a couple mil a year. I have a feeling Cro is aiming around $12 mil a year and he's not going to get that. He's good, but not $12mil good. If the Jets do get in to a bidding war for his services, I don't want them to go over $6mil a year for him. He can be replaced fairly easily.
Well, when you're a top tier player at your position, you can ask for top dollar. David Harris is a very good player, especially in this scheme, but he's never going to get a huge deal and he knows it.
cro isn't even that good. very inconsistent. does anyone have confidence in him vs a good receiver? he can be picked on. i'd rather take my chances with kyle wilson or sign another FA then use a ton of money on cro. i'd much rather keep braylon if I had to choose.
The thing is Cromartie isn't the 2nd rated FA corner out there. Brent Grimes and Joseph will be scene as better players than him in the FA market. Although many of us want Cromartie back so we can see how great our defense is with our new pass rush. It's not feasible and really never was. You can't have all stars at every position. We just drafted Wilson and if Cromartie leaves its his turn to start. Yes we will sign a FA that costs around 3-4 mil a year but we will soon forget about Cromartie. We don't need an all star 2nd cb. Nor do we need an all star 2nd wr, but I think its much more advantageous to spend money on two star wrs than two star cbs when you have a young qb at the helm.
Cro wants to leave, whatever. Dude better hope he finds another system where all he has to do is play man, because he fucking sucks in zone.
I hope Cro stays, but if he goes somewhere else, I can't wait for Shawn Greene to steam roll him....again.
Well I mean the truth lies in the middle here. Physically Cromartie is probably the most talented CB in the NFL so he can dominate any WR he wants. His head though isn't always in the game, nor is motivation and he doesn't like to use his hands much to jam opposing WRs. This means it's very difficult to predict how well he'll play... he can butt-fuck Andre Johnson and then get killed by a mediocre WR. With the Jets he had one of the best motivators in football (Rex) and he prepared the game with the best CB in the NFL in terms of studying the opponent (and not only that but not the point...). In some games (when Revis wasn't healthy) he had to do a hell of a job but in the games where Revis was 100% he got help from the rest of the secondary so I think those situations cancel themselves out. All in all I think Cromartie's production will fall if he plays somewhere else... and that with a (hopefully) healthy Revis we'll be able to roll more help over to the other guy playing CB. So who cares if he leaves...
hes a top talent who will be out of the league soon. its a low risk high reward situation but, counting on him is a bit too much for me. especially if hes the only guy we sign, gets busted and we have wilson rushed into starting duty. he could very well make someone look like a genius but the guy is in constant trouble. plus i live in tampa so im just sick of hearing about him.
Cro was probably one of the best #2 corners in the league last season. His presence will be missed by the Jets. Wilson looked lost most of the time and it doesn't seem the pass rush has been upgraded. Will be interesting to see how this defense holds up....
Our pass rush will depend a lot on our D line. If our fresh meat can pick up some of the slack a healthy calvin pace can create a better rush.
Our defense could lose 7 or 8 starters and still be better than Miami's. Go stare at your Marc Anthony Fathead.
