I dont really want it to end - its a bit like the Walking Dead comic series - you can just enjoy it as an ongoing story.

BTW I am irritated with Amazon - i pre-ordered the book well over a year ago and they still haven't managed to get my copy to me as yet.

    Dink better win.

Sidenote- Michael C. Hall was nominated again too.

With Breaking Bad missing the Emmy cut, a lot of actors have a chance to win it.

I want to see Dinklage win too. Game of Thrones and Boardwalk Empire will probably take home tons of awards.

Jon Hamm and Kyle Chandler deserve the award more than Michael C. Hall.

What about Timothy Olyphant, I don't watch that show but I have been a fan of his since "GO"

I really like Tim Olyphant and the second season of Justified was fucking awesome, but Hamm and Chandler's shows have been on for much longer. They just didn't have a chance with Bryan Cranston in their category.

Friday Night Lights is over and very under appreciated. Chandler is the dark horse because critics love the show and he's great in it.

A lot of people thought Hamm would beat Cranston at least once, but he never has. This might be his year.

I just think Chandler and Hamm did more with their characters than Hall's done with Dexter - it'd be a nice story to see Hall beat cancer and come back to win an Emmy though.

If the Dink doesn't win, I'd be riotously surprised.

Dink has that locked down...He better. Also, LOL at Hamm if he loses again for a 4th time to Cranston.

Would be really hard pressed to not bring that up during the award reception.

It'd be funnier this year considering Bryan Cranston isn't nominated.

I am assuming Nucky Thompson of Boardwalk would win? They probably will give it to Hamm

Jon Hamm deserves it over every actor except Bryan Cranston.

With Cranston missing the cut because BB is starting late, I think Hamm should win.

I am about half way through the 5th book and it's a great book. I just wanted to say for anyone considering reading the series it is definitely worth it. And the TV series is still great even if u know whats coming. Plus it's fun seeing everyone's shocked reactions to the major plot twists.

Also I have no idea how there going to do the 4th and the 5th books in the TV series since.

    Very minor spoilers.
The 4th and 5th book were originally supposed to be one book but it was too long so he split it in two by character. The 4th has kings landing and the south, the 5th has the north and across the narrow sea plus a little of the other areas since the 5th goes longer than the 4th timeline wise. So it will be hard to synch the timeliness for the TV series.

Just curious, have you been a book reader or did you plow through them after you saw the show? I'm wondering if the drop in quality is less noticable to someone that reads them straight through rather than waiting 10 years for the last 2 books.

book reader but i just read the books a couple years back. Ya it fell off especially with the 4th book but I think it rebounded in the new book after you get a bit in.

I know I mentioned the series before in the Ice and Fire thread, but just to mention it again, the series called the Long Price Quartet by Daniel Abraham is on par with anything Martin has put out. Don't take my word for it, ask Martin. He can't say enough about how great the series is. Look it up on Amazon, see what GRRM says about them.

Just an incredible and very original series, with plots and storylines that have never been done in fantasy before.

I dunno. Looking at each book just individually Dance is probably better but as far as the series goes this once was a lot more disheartening, since all the "major" players were in it but still nothing happened. The chapters involving Dany or anything to do with Mereen were unilaterally awful as were a majority of the Tyrion ones and the Jon ones were just killing time. And fuck cliffhangers, seriously. It's gotten to parody like levels.
