Yeah, that was one awesome ending...

Ending the season with a chick naked with a dragon resting by her vag.

    epic. :)

It isn't the best thing on TV right now, that honor goes to Breaking Bad and it isn't close. However, that isn't a knock on GOT. (also Justified is pretty damn good too)

I love the fact the creator of this show doesn't take the easy way out. The great things are the dialog and the storytelling. This show has the epicness of The Wire and Deadwood written all over it. That said.........

I think the big thing HBO can do is put a little more money and such into making the battle scenes and scenery a little bit better. For instance:

The joust stuff was good, but the Imp battle scenes were total meh. I am up to that part in book 1,( yes I started reading the book). The Imp actually acquitted himself ok in battle.

I am not saying there needs to be these sprawling battles but with a bigger budget they wouldn't have to cut that stuff off and do it half assed. Also, I am not too sure of the dragon thing, that part is a bit meh to me.

Other than that I can not wait till the series starts up again.

Edit: Bigger budget= more/better Direwolf scenes. I love when they are screen killing and maiming some faggot........lol Seriously, there were hardly any Direwolf scenes, there should be a bunch more.

I agree 100%, the one disappointing thing was the lack of a battle scene. I feel like that would cement this series as one of the best if not THE best on TV.

increased budgets and an unavoidable battle in next season that is at the center of things will be added I assume...

Have to take a caution approach with these shows just because you still have no idea how popular it would get.

I can't believe they packed nearly a 1,000 page book into 10 episodes.

Contrary to popular belief I am just fucking around with people in this thread has been a joy of mine. I do enjoy the show and I do look forward to more scenes with Direwolves doing some nasty shit.

How Robb's wolf was talked about killing 12 people or so, that would be have been a nice seen.

Parting Jaime Lannister's cock from his body would also have been well received.
I see great things for Tyrion and look forward to them all.

I still haven't seen an episode of this show yet. But just from skimming this thread, I like the sound of things.

I'm finishing up AFFC on my third read-through of the series just so I can be caught up when ADWD comes out in July. There's so much in the books that I missed even on the second read-through.

Not sure how all of that can really translate to the screen, but I guess the HBO series is a better medium than the silver screen.

HBO definitely is the best medium for a series like this...Its a continuation story and there are going to be 7 books that are all character focused.

Do you think they'll expand the amount of episodes in the coming seasons? Another 2 or 3 episodes would've been great.

*possible spoiler material here, for those who haven't read the books.

I'm actually pretty surprised at the amount of buzz there seems to be surrounding the first book/season. I've long considered A Game Of Thrones to be probably the most vanilla character development of the 4 current books (although it's neck-and-neck with AFFC, which may have introduced interesting new characters, but had the least pop of the 4 books). AGOT is more of a primer for all of the many characters, then next 2 books really focus on the primary characters and that's where the good stuff is.

They might do this...For now, I believe they have greenlit another 10 for next season.

I do think they should make it 12 episodes at least...Book 2 and 3 are huge.

Btw, we wont be having a title change to the show... I am hearing "Game of Thrones" will be the title of the series...The next book is called "A Clash of Kings" and that should in theory be the new title, but viewers recognize the show as GOT

I think the having to cut down some of the inner monologues and whining helped with the likability of people like Catelyn and Sansa. Bran's story was also whittled down to the bare essentials. Whereas the first book was pretty much entirely told through a Stark POV the show seemed a lot more balanced and we got to see more of what was going on in Kings Landing with the council etc. Really the only thing I was disappointed in the first season was the casting/depiction of the Hound, he just seems like a sad sack with a bad haircut rather than the sarcastic, violent, pyscho with a twinge of a conscience that he is in the books.

I think the Hound gets better developed in the later books.

Sean Bean might have spilled the beans on this

****SPOILER*** (But from the recent NY magazine)

From an interview with Sean Bean, where he confirms that Jon is not Ned's true son:
btw I thought this was hilarious

Waiting a year is going to be tough for Season 2.

Definitely a spoiler, although it is not made totally clear in the books, it becomes readily apparent to anyone who has read through book 3 that this is the case. There's another Targaryan floating around out there as well, if you pay close attention.

Hopefully they develop the character more later as Poeman is saying, because the Hound is a character that ties together a number of plotlines in the series. I'd hate it if they screwed his depiction up.

Now that makes a shit load of sense as to why Maester Aemon took Jon Snow under his wing. Also more reason for Jon to get that sword.

There's always a third head to the dragon? (or some shit like that)

I have my money on someone who is apparently going to carry the show next season.

Technically, its more of Mormont taking Snow under his wing, although Aemon does understand his situation of wanting to help his family and tries to give him some good advice as well.

The show is fantastic with its actors, but they really should get a big name for Stannis and my dude Jaquen (The guy in the hood from the cage in the end of episode 1 when Arya stares at them)

Its unclear who will play him though

    "valar morghulis"
