Sad offensive day. Oh well. Regression after 4 games with 10+ hits, I suppose.

2 idiotic base running plays killing their only scoring opportunities didn't help matters either.

I knew he would be good. That's why I added him to both of my fantasy teams for tonight's action.

It wasn't a funny feeling. Just a feeling. I also felt Pelfrey was going to be good in his recent starts vs Philadelphia and Milwaukee. Unfortunately, right prior to those games I was unable to add him to my teams. I wanted no part of him during the start he made between the Philadelphia and Milwaukee games.

I'd rather he sit out the year. The Mets aren't going anywhere this season. Let him heal all the way and be ready at the start in 2012.

Agree Cakes but I have my doubts as to whether he will actually come back at all.

Just thought I'd post the link even though this doesn't have a whole lot to do with the Mets. Safe to say Fregosi for Nolan Ryan is still the worst trade in franchise history. Or, in my lifetime, Dykstra and McDowell for Samuel. It's just hard to believe how fast Kazmir has dropped off and all the injury and velocity issues that have popped up. He's still young, but it don't look good...

I don't think he should have been a starter. He's too short and of slight build to handle all the pitching that comes with being a starter. Sure, there have been guys who were shorter starting pitchers and had successful careers. Bobby Shantz immediately comes to mind. Thing is, he wasn't a flamethrower like Kazmir. Jim Parque was a short starting pitcher of more recent times. He had one or two good years but was awful after a while. Octavio Dotel started 14 games with the Mets in 1999, but you could tell he wasn't going to last long as a starter due to having a slight frame and being shorter than the average starting pitcher and having a less-than-ideal throwing motion. I remember scouts suggesting Dotel was going to blow his arm out if the Mets were going to continue with him as a starting pitcher.

I was all for Kazmir being traded. Mets fans who were here in 2004 know that. My issue was with who they got back for him. They should have received more than Victor Zambrano. Furthermore, I was more annoyed with the Benson trade. The Mets acted like they were in the playoff race. They really weren't. They should not have made trades. They should have finished out the year as was and if they wanted Benson bad enough, they could have signed him in November.

yeah the biggest quip with the kazmir trade was the value we got in return. at the time we could have traded kazmir in a package for a real ace, i remember at the time there were murmurs of packaging him for one of the Oakland Big 3. But we traded Kazmir straight up for Victor Zambrano. We got fortunato back in the deal as well, but had to throw in a AA arm lmao, as if Kazmir wasn't enough to net back both...Zambrano was a highly erratic starting pitcher who had good stuff but again, so many fucking walks, and he wasn't exactly youngish when we traded for him either. the reasoning mets brass gave over trading him were concerns over his stature and durability, which made it quite ironic that the guy we traded him for made it into his 3rd start with the team before being shut down for the rest of the year with injury....We traded one of the best pitching prospects in the game at the time for him.

I haven't got the foggiest idea why Pagan did not slide there. Bay finally hitting the ball, they could have gotten another insurance run. Baffling.

I know. But atleast there is a light at the end of the tunnel. The Wilpons have no idea how to connect to their fan base.

Curious to hear the post game explanation...it was almost as if he expected no throw.

Parnell looked great for 2 innings, striking out 5 of 6.

.500 ball. Let's keep this thing rolling and get back to Shea over .500.
Gotta stop the bad baserunning. Didn't hurt us tonight, but it's costing us runs.

Another solid outing from Gee, its amazing how some of our best players this year were not even on the radar in April! Collins deserves huge credit for getting performances out of these young players....to think we supposedly had no depth in the system.....

Ref Einhorn....its just a matter of time before the Willpons are thrown out of Citifield.
