I am sure they are. MParty being a smartass and sec314 with his head up his ass. Yeah, people are going to eagerly await my posts tonight.
I watch for 10 minutes and then go to a website and disect the Jet schedule. If you have season tickets, you would understand why its so exciting to find out the time and day.
last year it was basically in cement by jet beat writers, miami would be the opener. then it turned out to be baltimore. so who knows.
I like when beat writers of other teams get the sched and you we can get little pieces of the sched before ours actually comes out.

WTF?!?! Travel to Oakland and than fly back east to play Baltimore and NE on the road. 3 straight road games vs tough defenses..Screw the NFL
lol, and then ending the season at Miami instead of having them come up here in the dead of December. Of course we're better on the road than we are at home anyway so it might not be a huge deal. I was kind of hoping for the Sept. 11 Jet-Giant game, it seemed almost the way it should have been on the 10th anniversary. Christmas Eve would be a nice secondary date though.
I believe that was meant for me. If so, you missed the boat. I'll only watch for a few minutes because there are actual sports (basketball and baseball) that I am more interested in tonight than a schedule release show. I understand why it is exciting, though. I have a certain amount of enthusiasm for the schedule too, but I'm not watching a multi-hour program about it. Why do you feel that way? For the life of me, I cannot see one good reason why Giants vs Jets makes any sense on 9/11. 9/11/01 was the darkest day in U.S. history. There is nothing to celebrate on 9/11/11 unless it is to say, "Hey look, we're still standing, we're still playing football, we're still enjoying freedom blah blah blah." The 10 year anniversary is not going to be a fun day. There is a strong likelihood that it will be a somber day of reflection and thinking about the changes to our lives since 9/11/01. Play football that day, unfurl the giant flag at each game, have the fly-overs, donate all concession money at all the games to families of 9/11 victims, etc. I'm all for that kind of stuff. New York vs New York on 9/11 would likely result in New York being a big loser, as in one of the teams would likely lose (there of course is a small chance of a tie). Why would the league create a 9/11 anniversary celebration party lovefest if one New York team was virtually guaranteed to lose? C'mon now. One of my friends today texted me with this after we had both heard the rumor of a NYG-NYJ 9/11 game- "It's almost embarrassingly theatrical. I'm also sick of hearing God Bless America during the seventh inning stretch, whatever happened to Take Me Out to the Ballgame?" Now, on to actual football problems. The Jets and Giants are slated to play in the third week of the preseason schedule. If they meet in Week 1, we're looking at two Giants-Jets games in three weeks. The third preseason game is usually the dress rehearsal. Let's suppose the lockout ends in May or June. That dress rehearsal third preseason game is going to be even more important than it's been than ever before due to the fact that coaches haven't been working with and staying in contact with their players this offseason. Stuff that would have been implemented during OTAs will now have to be drilled into players' heads in July and August. If the Jets and Giants had to meet in Week 1, they would play super super vanilla in the preseason game. It would be worse than the annual Eagles-Jets preseason games. Fans, particularly season ticket holders, complain enough (and rightfully so) about having to pay for preseason games but yet some of them want an absolute garbage Giants-Jets preseason game this year. Just about every year Giants and Jets fans can somewhat get excited for that game. There would be nothing this year. Getting back to the 9/11 stuff, heaven forbid the NFL lockout extends into August and the early games either get pushed back or cancelled. How would that go down with the public?
Cause it's not about who wins and loses, it's about celebrating the resiliency of NY and the nation. Besides by that logic, both teams could lose if they're not playing each other. Your last point is the most valid though, in case the lockout does last, boy having to miss that game would have been an even bigger nightmare.
We are so inept as a nation that we need a freakin' football game between two local teams to celebrate resiliency? C'mon, man! I am still waiting for anyone to give me a good reason why NY-NY on 9/11 made any sense.
Still waiting... I would think most Jets fans would rather play the Giants later in the season for the simple fact that the Giants play well early and suck late.
I'm w/ cakes on this issue. I don't like the game being played on Christmas eve either but I much prefer Christmas eve over the 9/11 opener. I hate all the primetime games but I love all the primetime games. In a perfect world all our games would be afternoon games but we are playing primetime games for a reason- we are an elite franchise currently and people want to watch us. The sched looks tough to end the season, I don't like that 3 game stretch onn the road but even though we don't know all the players yet I have 100% confidence in the coaching staff to have the Jets ready for any challenge- they just better not ruin my Christmas Eve!
