Fingers crossed for a solid effort from Hughes. Apparently he and Rothschild have spotted a mechanical problem with his lower body during his delivery, we'll see if it makes any difference.

Does AJ or Hughes get the ball?

100 really strong pitches from AJ before he fell apart. Rothschild and Martin seem to be good fits for him. If Hughes can find his velocity soon we'll be all right.

I guess Feliciano is done for the year.

^^^^^^ fuck. Losing Feliciano is going to suck. I thought he would be back in a month.

He couldve been key for us..... More Boone Logan. Ugh.

I believe Marte is still on this team and will be back June/July. Hopefully we get something out of him again because Tabata is destroying over in Pittsburgh.

Joba touching 96. Colon making a case for the rotation.

    A comeback would be dope.

I know I'm probably beating a horse that was dead last year... but it makes me sad when people talk about Joba touching 96 out of the pen as though it's a good thing. There was a time when people would've been wondering what was up if the gun was flashing 96 on his fastball.

    Oh, what could have been.

Well he touched 98 too. I know he used to be 97-100 consistently, is it the shoulder inflammation that ruined him? 96 is a nice number, though. Maybe I think that because Hughes has fallen off so bad. But if Joba's slider is on, he's deadly at 94-96.

96 is plenty good, sure... but it's not what he used to be, so I don't know why people (not saying you did this) point to 96 and say, "Joba's back, baby!"

It really is more about his slider and location now. I've always said he can still be very good. Hell, I'm still in the camp that says he should be a starter even if he's sitting at 92-93mph. It's just that my hopes are diminished. When he was at 95-100 as a starter, he had the chance to be unbelievably good. Like Verlander. Or Randy Johnson. Or Clemens. One of those pitchers you only see every now and again in a generation. Without that fastball, he can still be very good... just not special.
