I cant tell whether or not this would be good or bad for the Jets, but those RFA tenders going away is something I dont like. I doubt we lose Holmes or Edward but teams could now overpay tremendously. Will see what happens.

If this is true, they should really consider bringing Woody and Jenkins back for 1 more year at least.

I brought this up in a thread as soon as the union walked away. This all depends on how Doty rules. The odds are that he'll reapply the gamut of 2010 rules, but it's not guaranteed.

I cant believe people could actually complain about the final 8 rules if this happens.

It basically means we get to keep Cromartie, Edwards, Holmes, Harris, Brad Smith, several of our safeties. If it was a capped year we likely wouldnt be able to sign any big name free agents anyway if we resigned those guys due to monetary constraints.

Us going out and signing a Suggs or Ngata level player was never much of an option anyway regardless of which scenario we looked at.

Effectively this allows us to seriously consider resigning guys like Jenkins and Woody to short term deals, and lets us focus our draft almost completely on our biggest needs at the defensive line and OLB.

Not to mention this also means that Cromartie ends up from going as a wasted 2nd round pick as a 1 year rental, to someone that will return next year and or could possibly be traded (Seriously who wouldnt be excited if we could get a late 1st/early 2nd round pick for Cromartie instead of nothing if he walked)

This exact team was so close to the superbowl last year, these rules would give us another chance to finish what we started.

Not to mention Shaun Ellis could sign a decent contract elsewhere giving us some flexibility, and theres a very decent chance we get a 6th round pick for Drew Coleman due to his tender (maybe well even get a 3rd for Clemens)

And most significantly people are forgetting that we will be free to sign any player that gets or got cut.

Also if anyone could answer this. Whats Nnamdi Asomugha considered? Like his contract was voided, so I would assume this means he would NOT be under the final 8 restrictions ?
