Ngata at 10 million bucks a year or Ngata at 3 million a year? If you could trade your next two first to draft a player as good as Ngata you'd do it in a second. It's the giant contract that you'll have to pay that makes it hard to do a deal.
You don't trade 2 first round picks for anyone other than a young franchise QB. Maybe a young Lawrence Taylor type guy too.
No. Not going to give up two first rounders while picking up a monster contract in the process. I would think he'll demand something close to 10-12 mil a yr contract. Rather keep the two low first rounders and pay them at most $2 mil each. We do need to get young on the line, but we don't need Ellis, Jenks, and Ngata to take up $20+ mils either.
I don't understand what you're trying to say. If Ngata's salary was low I would trade the 2011 first round pick (which will be late) and the 2012 first (which should be late because the Jets should be good). Maybe you're giving up two excellent players for one excellent player but maybe you're giving up two busts for an excellent player. The risk is worth it in my opinion. The point is moot because Ngata doesn't have a low salary; he'll be paid a fortune.
Why are you pretending like you didn't try and liken every first round pick to the current value of Kyle Wilson?
like I said...I'm glad your name isn't Mike Tannenbaum. Because you should be nowhere near an NFL General Manager type position. 2 first round picks is a STEEP price....very steep. Anything outside of a young, proven franchise QB, shouldn't even be in the conversation.
Brick and Mangold were very high 1st round picks. Well Mangold was mid round. Hardly a 28th this year and around there (hopefully) next year. Id give the 1sts in a heart beat for him, its just the what would we lose because of his contract that would make things difficult.
Making a joke? First round picks are obviously valuable. No question about it. You get a price controlled player who sometimes is great, usually turns out to be pretty good, and sometimes busts. And two first round picks is a definitely a very steep price. But we're talking about possibly the best defensive player in all of football. You're damn right if he had a reasonable contract I'd trade a current and a future first for him.
Nope. I think he's that good. He, Revis and Ware are the top three in my book. EDIT: He's a first team all-pro, he got a vote for defensive player of the year; he's certainly in the discussion.
