^ as good as those players are, none compare to what Sanchez has done so far in terms of leading a team and excelling in the playoffs. Clay Matthews only comes close, but he's a OLB, not a QB.
I won't/can't argue that. Sanchez has turned out exceptionally well. My point is we put all of our eggs in 1 basket with that trade. It worked out.
The Jets did indeed, but those eggs were rotten and green (no pun intended ). Only one player remains on the browns from that trade - Alex Mack. 5 picks/players that was been reduced to 1 for one franchise QB. That's how you fleece a team. It was a work of art.
It's funny, over the couple years it appears the picks that got the most derision were the Sanchez pick, the Revis pick and Ferguson pick. Funny stuff cus Revis is the best CB in the football, Ferguson is one of the best LTs in football and Sanchez is well on his way to becoming an upper tier QB, especially if he can play like he did this past post season in the regular season.
Wikipedia hasn't updated it: http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=6106246&campaign=rss&source=NFLHeadlines he's FA
Its nice to see 1st rounders working out. Its the test of a good franchise. Look at the Steelers - they never miss in the 1st round.
Elam is a free agent - Jets could use depth at safety or maybe he starts. I think Elam would fit nicely into Rex's system. When the signings begin the Jets should consider Elam.
i'm a bit nervous about this sanchez pick, only because landing a franchise qb is so hard to do. my gut tells me sanchez will beat out clemens and start his rookie year and play just good enough to get us into the playoffs, maybe even to the afc championship game. we'll see. i know we need a receiver in the 3rd round, but i think ryan will pull hard for a rb, maybe that shawn greene kid. as far as receiver id LOVE to pry holmes away from pitt but i know this could never happen. if anyone can do it tanny can! another player i could see ryan go after is that db from the bolts, cromartie. i think he's i his last year but he has like 6 or 7 kids already so character may be an issue. has anyone else noticed how when ryan is talking to someone he never looks them in the eye, he stares down at their feet. wierd.
If the Jets played the Colts and the Patriots in consecutive playoff games, do you think Sanchez would have enough to pull out a win against both teams?
Name me the GM who hasn't fucked up a first rounder. I don't care how colossal, they all miss at least once.
Its funny how every season come draft time, we see these doom threads pop up and totally wild comments made. You'd think that posters would learn to button it, but no, still the yappas keep yapping. Wonder who will come up with the doom this draft
And its always the posters who have only ESPN to go on or even worse - college stats. None of them take the time to learn about the prospects and who they are. Then they jump on here and talk as if they know what's going on. Its why I freely attack people. They are uninformed with awful opinions.
Because they want to be the one to say, i told you so. even though most of the time it blows up in their face.
if we didn't fuck the Gholston pick so much and got someone that could actually rush the passer there's no doubt in my mind we could have won it all this year. Such a godamn shame =/
Agreed. That pick will haunt the Jets for a while. Get a decent linebacker there - like a Clay Matthews and the Jets would have a more dangerous defense.
he will probably have just enough to beat the colts and pats, but i think he will fall just short if he plays someone like rothlesburger in afc champ game. just a hunch
