With the 2010 NFL Season just barely behind us, document your predictions for our opening day starting offense, defense, and ST specialists when the 2011 season begins. With the potential for a good amount of top-end roster turnover, this is a more difficult task than it might seem. It will be very interesting to look back 7 months from now and see who nailed the roster.

Feel free to insert rookie pick predictions into the lineup, or free agents. This is not meant to be a christmas wish list, but a prediction of the team Tannenbaum will assemble/retain this offseason.

The picks on offense are mostly no-brainers except for RT and the two WR spots.

The defense is tougher. There could be DL turnover, a new starting OLB, new CB in the #2 spot, and new safety (or two).

Trades could shake this up entirely.

    OFFENSE
Notes: I think Tanny finds a way to keep both Holmes and Edwards. Sanchez restructures his deal to make the numbers work. We don't want to pay Woody what he's worth and Hunter and Ducasse battle it out in camp - Hunter wins.
    QB: Sanchez

    LT: D'Brick
    LG: Slauson
    C: Mangold
    RG: Moore
    RT: Hunter

    FB: Conner
    RB: Greene

    TE: Keller

    WR: Holmes
    WR: Edwards

    DEFENSE
Notes: Cromartie returns. Surprisingly, he takes a deal that is slightly under market value. Bryan Thomas is gone, replaced by Rookie Sheard. Jenkins restructures an incentive laden deal to return mostly as a passing situation guy. Ellis takes the money elsewhere. Harris is franchised. Pool returns at a very affordable rate. The 100% in tact starting secondary allows for communication on the back end to pick up right where it left off this year.
    DE: DeVito
    NT: Jenkins
    DE: Pitoitua

    OLB: Pace
    ILB: Scott
    ILB: Harris
    OLB: Sheard (R)

    CB: Revis
    CB: Cromartie

    S: Leonhard
    S: Pool

    SPECIAL TEAMS
Note: Purdum obviously stays. Conley ties Weatherford in camp but he's cheaper so he makes the roster. Graham comes full circle and Jets fans freak out that we're replacing the hot/cold Folk with playoff choke Graham.
    LS: Purdum
    K: Graham
    P: Conley

Overall Note: We all praise Tannenbaum for somehow resigning Holmes, Edwards, and Cromartie.

I feel you, but I really believe the Holmes/Edwards/Cro trio will remain. If this were Madden I would've had alot more fun than that.

Brandon Moore, Sione Pouha, and a seventh rounder to the Baltimore for Haloti Ngata, Terrell Suggs, and Ed Reed?

blockbuster to say the least there. The thought of Suggs in a Jet jersey
storming into the backfield and burying Brady makes me smile real wide.

nah Pouha and Moore are just depth players now.

We gave them Robby Felix and a 6th rounder, and a 7th next year.

I understand the Madden-goggles most people have around here. This roster, if unworkable at all, is not more than 1 piece away from being within the cap.

It can happen. Depth will be thin, but Rex and Tannenbaum believe in the top-heavy roster philosophy.

I basically have the same roster, except Shayne Graham? Doesn't give me any more confidence than Folk. Would rather keep Folk in that case.

I think Santonio, Braylon, and Cro all return, all taking slightly less money. Not a lot less money, but kind of like how we overpaid Scott to come here, if the money is close, I think they'll stay.

Jenkins needs to take a massive restructuring.

And while I do think we draft an OLB in the first round, I don't think we end up starting that OLB. I picture us taking Sheard or Houston or someone like that and easing them into the lineup, mostly on 3rd downs. Don't think you can count on a rookie being a major impact every-down starter on this defense. Ease them into the lineup, a la John Abraham back in the day.

I think Folk is toast and Graham did an excellent job in fill-in duty last year kicking a perfect 12-of-12 in 2010. If you take out the playoff choke job, he could be a good value.

    ...read that again.

You can't take that away - Shayne Graham is a choke artist.

Nick Folk was 9 of 10 over the last seven games including the playoffs.

No matter who this team brings in at kicker, the majority of the fans will shit themselves every time the guy lines up for a kick.

Why does everyone think the 31 year old with the twice reconstructed left knee and a bad back is a lock to be a starter?

Pouha will be the starter next season, Jenkins' best (player)value is as a rotational guy.

I agree with this 100%, but I listed Jenkins as starter because I wanted to signify that he's back and if the first defensive snap is against a 3 wide, etc set, we'll see him in there.

Just because he's the starter doesn't mean he'll get the most playing time. I could see him starting, but Pouha getting the bulk of the time to keep Jenkins healthy.

    QB Sanchez

    FB Conner
    RB Greene

    T Brick, Hunter/Vlad
    G Slauson, Moore
    C Thor

    WR Holmes
    WR Cotchery
    TE Keller

    DEF

    DE Pitoitua, Ngata
    NT Pouha

    OLB Pace, Sheard
    ILB Scott, Posluszny
    CB Revis, Cromartie, Wilson
Safeties: Ihedigbo, Leonhard, Zbikowski, Pool, Lowery, Smith... I don't know. Not sure who's gone to trade/free agency here.

K no idea. Draft pick.. Free agent?
    P Weatherford
    LS Purdum

I think Harris is involved in a trade for Ngata and Zbikowski. Posluszny takes Harris' spot. Cro and Holmes resign, Braylon gone. Woody and Ellis go elsewhere. Sheard drafted at 30

Listing "Jenkins" gives you 2 shots, Cullen who thinks he won't be back with GB, or Kris.

I doubt you can make that roster work with a cap under 140 or 145.

Is the cap going to be 130, 145, or 160 next year? Nobody knows.
