Having a good coach and retaining that coach is generally a commonality among successful teams. Rex will be the HC of NYJ for a looong time.

Donnie Henderson was a previous "King Ugly' winner as well ;-)

I thought Henderson had an interesting, aggressive defense, actually. A little one-dimensional, but aggressive.

I rarely post, but this deserves props. Excellent way of describing what we lacked for so many years and what we hope Woody, Rex, and MT will build.

In all fairness, it's not just Lewis carrying the D. Ngata and Reed have a little bit to do with it over the years, don't you think?

Right but Lewis is the heart and soul of that defense. He may not carry them but he's still their leader.

Mangini kept the same coordinators during his 3 years as HC here. Schotty and Sutton.

Herm got rid of Cottrell after his 3rd season and Hackett after his 4th.
    Donnie Henderson.

Abe has been reasonably healthy because Mike Smith no longer uses him as a three down lineman anymore. He is kept fresh with less playing time.

I blelieve the Packer game the poster was referring to is not the Jets-Packer from 2002 but the Falcons -Packer playoff game last month. Abraham was banged in for that game and was a non factor.

Uh, ray lewis? One of the greatest defensive players of all time? He's been the heart of that defense for over a decade. Reed and ngata are great but lewis is the only one with a ring.

    tappin.. talkin..

The Steelers have one of the best QB's in the game and a solid roster across the board. This is a silly post.

its true though.. if i wasn't a Jets fan, I'd be a steelers fan just based on the fact that overall the organization has created a unique brand in football, they have swagger but appeal to every demographic, they are professional and consistent and play great football when everybody around them is watering down their play.

i hope the jets are in the process of creating something like that or better.

Roethlisberger is "one of the best QB's in the game"?

    That's debatable.

No it's not. 3200 passing yards in only 12 games. 4000+ yards last year.

10-2 record in the playoffs. 2-0 in the Super Bowl.

The only ones that want to "debate" how great Roethlisberger is are the ones that hate him and try to tear him down.

Most experts consider him in the top 5 in the league. How is that not "one of the great QB's" in the league.

Take off the Green and White goggles and face reality.

I think it goes back to his bad SB against the Seahawks. people see that and think Pitt could have won w/o him but they forget how great he was in the playoffs winning 3 road games. W/o him they aren't close to a Sb that year, it's not a coincidence that pitt started winning SBs again once Ben became their QB.

He gets it done in big games He's def. in the discussion. He could have the most SB rings when its all said and done.

Your right...even though you misquoted and moved him from "one of the best" to "one of the great" qb's. I just looked up his season stats and they're better than I would have guessed. Seemed like every Steeler game I watched this year it looked like he was struggling. That and the Steelers going 3-1 w/o him tend to color my opinion of his play this year.

*SHRUG* I'm a Jets fan...I'm still pissed about the AFCC game.

He was up against the Ravens 2 times and the Jets twice this year in marquee games. Having to face elite defenses 4 times might have swayed your opinion of him.
