Yeah, that'd be nice. If only we could stop being cute and score in the 1st quarter. However, what I meant from the stats was that I'm hoping we get back to the run game more (specifically Greene), which we got away from most of the season as soon as we were down a FG, it seems.
You just named the three best QBs in the NFL; your standard for what constitutes a franchise QB is way too high. You can be a franchise QB without being a future 1st Ballot HoF.
Well if the RZ offense gets its head out of its ass, things will change. But with the emergence of Sanchez, ground and pound will fade. I don't know how I feel about that yet. I still want to be a run first offense that can throw it when it wants to, and if the game is close you put it in Sanchez's hands and you're fine. If the offense can run simple, confidence building plays in their first series, I think they'll be ok. Even if they don't score, as long as they march down the field and can pin the opposing offense inside their own 20 and then get the ball back with a short field, they might start scoring in the 2nd half.
Unfortunately that is who we have to beat year in and year out to get to the Superbowl. The thing is we had our perfect storm this year to get there. Big Ben, Schaub, Rivers, Brady, Manning and Flacco are just the ones we have to go through in the Afc and given help we still don't know what the Bills Qb can do. He is our Franchise Qb but as we have seen this year it is very Naive to think that our Defense can hold every team we meet on the way to the promised land under twenty points in Jan.
I think you mean 2011:smile: We are set at QB for a long time to come as long as Mark stays healthy. I am really excited to see him in 2011, I think he is going to be a top QB sooner than later.
He was much better than his #s showed this year, next year I think he has a breakout regular season- a pro bowl type of year and hopefully he can help us finish the job and get to the Super Bowl.
He was inconsistent with his accuracy but showed major signs of improvement towards the end of the season. I'm excited to see him play more consistent, and believe he will.
You know, this Nacho guys really starting to piss me off. Sure has a good arm and he gets the hot chicks, but he is still no Chad Pennington!! But no, now he's showing off he's a smart football guy, too. How am I supposed to defend Penny around here now? Oh, wait.. he's got the worst throwing shoulder in football!! Oh, snap.. Nacho might trying to corner that market too! *knock on a big honking ass piece of wood* I seriously hope not. It is really hard not to love this kid. He had some skills to start, but he is really working on the little things to make his game better and it is starting to show. And even when he's having an off game and over throwing the hell out of everyone, he still has that moxie in the clutch to play big and make plays. As much as my heart was stomped on by the Steelers, it softens the blow a bit to know we got another shot next year and Sanchez can be even better. Been a long time since we have been able to feel that way about a QB.
The FO did a great job drafting Mark. I can't find the article but it was talking about how he has his best games in big moments. Starting with the Rose Bowl and that trend just continues. That's something no one can teach or learn, you either have it or you don't. Now he knows that every game is big, and will be fighting for home field from week 1 on.
Drew Willy went to Randolph HS in NJ. They were our rivals (I played at Roxbury). I've played against him probably ten times. He was a three year starter but his team was never really impressive. He had a great career at Buffalo. Also, Al Groh lived in Randolph
Ok. i agree....thanks to you for expressing your opinion without insulting me like other posters did.
To me it's not easy to express my opinions in english....i live in italy, never studied english at school. At the end i will bore you no more with my six year old messages. Thank you.
Sanchez made some big strides from his rookie season. He had a few set backs, but the progression is there. I have graded each game he's played in for his first two seasons to get an easy to use guide to his first two seasons. 2009 B and Above = 4 games C- to B- = 7 games D+ and below = 4 games 2010 B and Above = 6 games C- to B- = 5 games D+ and below = 4 games These don't count the playoff games, but I think he made a huge jump in the playoff games from a year ago 2009 vs. Cincinnati - B+ vs. San Diego - C vs. Indianapolis - B 2010 vs. Indianapolis - B+ vs. New England - A vs. Pittsburgh - B
I haven't looked at the reg season but I would flip flop the Indy and SD playoff games from the 2009 playoffs. His #s were better at Indy but he was better against SD, he made 3-4 huge plays at SD that we wouldn't have won w/o and he didn't lead us to a point in the 2nd half of that Indy game. I'd also give him an A or A+ at Cincy, he was almost perfect. He only had 3 incompletions and 2 of them were drops. can't get much better than that.
looking at this, why did you give him such a high grade at indy, and a conversly low grade at pitt? I thought he was a much better QB at Pitt in the second half than he was in Indy, the difference being of course that we won the indy game on a last drive, and he never got a shot for a last drive at pitt.
I gave him a high grade in the Indy game because of that last drive. The offense really was awful in the first half in the AFCCG against Pitt and helped to put us in a huge hole but he played wonderfully in the 2nd half which brough the final grade up to a B.
The O wasn't good in the 1st half at Pitt but it wasn't b/c of him like the Indy game. Cotch had a big drop on a 3rd down that would have beena first down and the D couldn't get off the field. it's hard to get into rythm when the first time you see the ball there is under 6 mins left in the 1st qtr.
