IMO and most of yours our biggest need is to add a pass rusher over the course of the Off-season. My question is which is more important during the off-season, signing a pass-rusher in free agency or drafting one?

Signing a Pass Rushing Free Agents

    - The issue here is simply money, do we have enough of it to sign a good pass rusher to make for defense, especially the DBs even better.

Here are the guys in free agency that are strong candidates for such a job.

    ( no particular order)

    1. Tamba Hali - one of the more underrated players this season Hali was simply a sack machine recording 14.5 sacks and most known for being a pro-bowl snub. He has that Elvis Dummervil type feel to him but he has played in a 3-4 defense and is fairly young (27).

    2. LaMarr Woodley- a more known player to use all, Woodley is just an unstoppable force on the defense, he gets sacks and creates pressure effectively all by himself, again another 3-4 defensive player that will want money, the thing is the Steelers organization isn't usually the one to dish out boat loads of money. If we have the room he can be of great need.

    3. Marcus Bernard- had a quiet season for the Browns but racked up 7.5 sacks as there OLB filling in for Fujita , Im a bit confused on his contract but if he does hit the free agent mark he could be a great sign that may not be extremely costly.

    Drafting a Pass Rushing OLB's

For many of you who dont know too much about the draft there is a mixed amount of good pass rushers that can be drafted at about the 30th pick for the Jets.
( no order again) Hard to give an explanation because I haven't seen there combines yet so I will just list LBs that could fall to the Jets.

    1. Jeremy Beal, Oklahoma
    2. Justin Houston, Georgia
    3. Ryan Kerrigan, Purdue
    4. Greg Romeus, Pitt
    5. Robert Quinn, UNC

There are many more better/just as good LB's for the Jets to draft but these are the rookies who I feel we keep an eye on the most and that also will be there when we select.

Hali and Woodley probably don't get to free agency (they get resigned or tagged if there is any kind of a tag under the new CBA), and Quinn and Kerrigan are long, long gone by the time the Jets draft.

actually I expect woodley to become a FA. he will want way more money than we likely can afford, but but the Steelers just drafted 2-3 OLB prospects in the last draft expecting woodley to walk this year.

Also correct me if I am wrong but isnt Quinn like 6'5 287 pounds or something like that? There is no way that guy is a 3-4 OLB, a 3-4 end sure, but not a freaking OLB.

He's about 6'5 270 he'll prob have to cut about 5-10 pounds but he's about the size of a 4-3 DE. but can be converted to outside line backer.

How can anyone opine about the offseason, with no collective bargaining agreement. Nobody knows who is going to be an FA, if FA's are going to be RFA/UFA's, if they can be franchised etc. etc. etc.

I guess we have to focus on the draft.

Who the fuck is Andrew Beal?

Robert Quinn is one of the best prospects in the country, even if he didn't play this season.

    Greg Romeus isn't a 3-4 linebacker.

Once again, Drew Coleman's Dad fails miserably.

To all the posters of TGG:

I strongly recommend that you write off the OP's opinion on the draft immediately.

He has has absolutely no idea what he's talking about.

If you want to see some good stuff, make your way to the draft forum. You'll find accurate information there.

Is that avatar supposed to be funny? Does anyone find any humor in an "I LOVE TO 69" football jersey other than the thread starter and the guy in the photo?

Drew Coleman's Dad definitely has the worst avatar. I may have to put him on ignore just so I don't have to see that garbage. "I LOVE TO 69", short shorts, and striped socks pulled up to the knees.

I hope that clown got his ass kicked for dressing like that.

Living in Georgia, let me just say, Justin Houston is very undersized and would only fit maybe one or two teams. The only way he plays well is if he has a Haloti Ngata in front of him. Even then he is still bad against the run.

It was a simple typo, and stfu honestly you have commented on plenty of my mocks and other opinions and have agreed . You come into every fucking thread I make trying to find some way to bash me and simply can never back up your statements . I helped out in that draft forum plenty in last off season while you sat back and did shit , so don't tell me what your stupid ass opinions are because there not even halfway valid...

Hes the same size as Quinn and can be converted for simple pass rushing assignments. He can translate to either a 4-3 DE or 3-4 OLB with the proper grooming, so dont give me that shit just cause you have a beef with me.

send a 5th or 6th rounder to the skins for haynesworth. he already got most of his jack from the skins. rex will get him to play end, which is like being a dt in the 4-3.

Skins would have to pick up most if not all of his contract for us to trade for him, plus he's a team cancer and thats one thing we do NOT need.

Just because he's the same size doesn't mean he's the same caliber athlete.

I think Quinn is a better fit in the 4-3 anyways.

You have a top five caliber player ranked behind three players and Greg fucking Romeus.

Just because you posted from two different names doesn't mean you "helped" out.
