Vince, welcome back. Just a question, does kyle feel he is ready to contribute as a nickleback? Or does he still feel he is better equipped to play outside than inside?
Well, based on the logic here, Sean Smith got lots of playing time as a rookie, how'd that work out for him? In short, the Dolphins found the guy playing time but it looks like he's heading down the same route as Jason Allen...
I think it really comes down to where Kyle has played and what his strengths are. He's a cornerback that likes to play on the outside, and has done it at a high level his entire life. I know the kid can play football, and I strongly believe that once he gets on the outside again next year we'll see some even bigger improvements. People wish they had DMC, but the truth about Devin is that he had experience doing EVERYTHING at RU. I am not surprised in the slightest he's had immediate success because he's always been an advanced player, and understood things quicker than everyone else. Kyle's had a tougher time adjusting to a new role and limited PT, but his learning curve should be fast once he's actually in the fire.
Has Kyle Wilson played @ all this game ? Ive seen coleman, lowery, smith (a ton), havent seen this guy on the field @ all except on special t eams
With how many DBs we have on the field I would expect him to be out there @ some point He hasnt gotten a ton of time this year, but hes been out there most weeks at least a little
a Big Ben fastball hit him in the facemask. Revis dropped an easy one too. How about we applaud him for beating the WR on his route and getting in the lane?
But that would be sensible. That just isn't in most Jets fans' nature. At least not too many on this board. Wilson read that play perfectly and took a bullet in the face. He broke up the play and got the punt team on field. He did everything he was supposed to do. I'll chalk it up to mostly frustration with the game at this point but Wilson has made some good progress. I look forward to seeing him play next season. He'll only get better.
He's always had the sideline next to him to help him as a corner. That's what he's used to. Put him back in that situation and he'll grow faster. I'm sure of it.
You know what , you're right and I'm not giving up on him either....the kid was absolutely garbage at times this season..and just the fact that the only time we heard his name was on a dropped pick that almost any DB would drop may be something to build on since it means he wasn't a liability.
Just as Mick said, I'm looking at it as Wilson getting in the lane by beating his receiver. He's picking up the game with fewer and fewer reps each game. He did a great job covering Steve Johnson against the Bills, no easy task in itself. I'm confident that we are going to have a great DB in Kyle Wilson next season, whether it is played in 2011 or 2012.
If the Jets improve the front 7 and pass rush, I can see Wilson doing as well as cro next season. Wilson will put his hands on his WR and not bail out ever snap, trying to rely on his speed.
I said leading up to and during the draft that Wilson's aggressiveness is the part of his game that fits Rex's scheme the best. Watch this highlight reel again and try and tell me why Wilson doesn't belong on this defense. He's learning, it took him a while but he's getting it. Now he has a whole offseason with Revis to teach him the game. Once it starts slowing down for him we'll see him abusing NFL receivers like this. EDIT: FWIW, 5:48 is still my favorite part of this video.
lol ohhhhhhhhhh i cant believe you guys missed him remeber that huge play he made with his face where the ball hit him and he still couldnt pick it off. dear god i pray this kid has more talent than gohlston.
