:shit: Apparently since the JETS are winning, Governor Chris Christie wants to rename the NewYork JETS, the NewJersey JETS. Heres his reasoning : Governor Chris Christie has a message for Jets fans. They're New Jersey's team. "Today when they're practicing, where are they practicing? New Jersey. And when they play their homes games, where do they play? New Jersey. And where do most of their players live? In New Jersey," Governor Christie said on Tuesday. A day earlier, he reminded reporters that coach Rex Ryan also lives in New Jersey. Your thoughts?hmy:
No need to try to fracture the fanbase. We are the New York Jets and always will be, we play in a suburb of NYC. The Jets are NY's team, NJ's team, CT's team and if we win we'll get a big parade in NYC.
I love when the people/players mention Jersey, because there are so many many fans here and the team is basically rooted here, now. But... they started in NY and I'd never want the name to change.
Now all of the Sudden he wants them to be the NJ Jets? Where was he when we were losing? Fuck him, he's just another bandwagon fan.
NYC lit up the Empire State building in honor of the Jets. What the fuck did Jersey light up...a Home Depot?
Chris Christie can eat a fucking dick, don't worry about our Jets, worry about when the next snow storm is and don't take your fat ass on vacation this time
I guess it's time once again to point out to these politicians that the "New York" in Jets (and Giants) refers to New York City, not New York State. The Jets are historically from New York City, play in a suburb of New York City, and have a local fanbase centered in New York City and its suburbs. The Washington Redskins practice in Ashburn, VA, and play in Landover, MD, but they are called the Washington Redskins. The Dallas Cowboys play in Arlington, TX and practice in Irving, TX, but they are called the Dallas Cowboys. The Buffalo Bills practice and play in Orchard Park, NY, but they are called the Buffalo Bills.
Jersey is second rate--ever try to get a dish of non-diner spagetti after 10pm? Springsteen notwithstanding Bon Jovi is proof that the Garden State can blow hard the Governer should stay outta this When I think of "jets" I think of Idelwild Airport, which makes me think of Queens, which is in New York; that is my childhood legacy you are messing with, (does he want to rename Joe Namath too?), leave us alone Your Honor.
I actually like the idea, it sounds better too. That being said, it would've meant something more if NJ tried to do this while we sucked. Jersey Jets does roll of your tongue quite easily.
I agree with him they should be the NJ Jets. It doesn't matter to me what state they are from I have been a fan since I was a baby. I also think the Giants should be the NJ Giants. There is much more money being connected to NY so the names will never change.
Jersey is second rate b/c you're fat ass can't get spaghetti after 10? Fuck you, dude. Don't disrespect Jersey. I want to hear you talk shit to someone from Hudson County's face. You won't.
25 plus years it's worked fine. Both states deserve props for when the Jets win. There will be enough to go around.
Yep. Even the vaunted Los Angeles Lakers still practice in the city of El Segundo and, for most of their history, played their games in the city of Inglewood.
Fuck this fat slob. I rep NJ but I completely disagree with this guy. I'm tired of politicians attaching themselves to sports teams. Bloomberg is another one, he'll probably be at that pep rally today, if it's snowing I hope they hand him a shovel and tell him to get to work.
