Rex Ryan on ESPN 1050 said he asked the league to allow Dennis Byrd to be the team captain(for the coin toss) The League said yes. pretty awesome shit. he also said the Dennis Byrd speech happened when Byrd sent Rex his last game Jersey. Byrd said he felt Rex Ryan was the guy who deserved to have his last jersey...so Rex told him he had to come, and speak to the players. i know we all love rex, but this is some pretty wild shit. ill post the rest of the story later, because im sure itll be written about. edit: listen to what bart scott says about dennis byrd at 1:10. fucking outstanding. plus amazing stuff on rex. http://www.newyorkjets.com/photos-a...nplugged/42b27f54-e94c-4ce6-a146-03dbc74380be
I wonder how the Steelers feel about this? I'm sure they'll say the right things in the media as to not come off as assholes, but it's got to piss them off a little don't you think?
oh probably.....but...I'll probably file it under "I could give two fucks about the Steelers' feelings".
Doubt they will say anything. The fans will use if for an excuse as to why they lost the game. Plus some imaginary penalty call in the 1st quarter, Wild guess.
Here you go - its a great interview - 10 minutes of pure gold from Dennis Byrd. Guy is heartfelt, inspirational and a true gentleman. http://www.newyorkjets.com/photos-a...its-Home/e19e1d5b-9a42-4b88-9493-9f54d5a61f4c
I'm not sure this is that outrageous, though. Others teams have done things like this- at least I think they have. Didn't the Giants have a wheelchair bound veteran as a team captain late in the 2007 season? Either way I don't think the Steelers could possibly have an issue with this. It's great that Byrd will be a captain.
Hey Willie......if Rex sent out that bitch that Roethlisberger raped last year in that bathroom stall as a captain next Sunday....then the Steelers may have a reason to be pissed.
I hope refs don't fuck it up like I think they will. Going all the way back the Seahawks SB game and that bullshit OPI call, the Steelers always seem to have the refs on their side.
"There is a side where a man's will counts for a tremendous amount..." "This is that moment for men to put that stamp on who they're supposed to be, who everybody thought they could be and this is that time, there comes these moments where you've got to rise the that challenge..." "i was thrilled to see when Coach Ryan was hired...i didn't know how many games the Jets were gonna win, but I knew they weren't gonna lose any fights...."
Maybe the Steelers can send out the cripple that Francesser interviewed after Braylon's DWI as a captain.
