I agree. Big Wood played his heart out against the Colts but he was obviously limited by injury. Hunter will do good and if they let Vlad get in there on goal line to go knock somebody down - GREAT !

It took our existing group of veteran OLman (minus Slauson) half a season in 2008 to pick up and execute Callahan's zone schemes.

It took Slauson, who had played in Callahan's scheme in Nebraska and entire season to be ready to start.

Ducasse comes from a small school and reportedly had never worked in a zone scheme. He's definitely not ready to produce. We're stuck with Hunter, for better or worse, although I think they may try to work Ducasse into the rotation if we're beating New England by 5 touchdowns.

Hehe, my lady watched Hard Knocks with me this year, and every time we're watching a Jets game she laughs and says 'Look, Rob Turner's starting another fight!'.

Rob Gronkowski thinks our run game will be just fine.

The loss of Jim Leonard was a big hit with only a few days prior to the game.
But you guys have Mangold and I'm sure he can more than step up and lead the line.

What the shit are you guys talking about? His run blocking was amazing, and he handled Mathis just fine. Woody was one of our best players last week and I think this is a pretty big loss.

That's what I thought also, and that's what pro football focus thinks also.

If Ducasse sees any meaningful time on Sunday it will probably be taking over Turner's role as an extra TE on our big line subs while Yurner moves up to take Hunters. Hopefully Schottenheimer decides to give Hunter some to the outside help early and dial it back if hee doesn't need it rather than putting him out there on his own until we're screwed.

    New England delenda est.

Friend or foe, I hate to see anyone out due to an injury, especially at this time of the season. Hope his surgery is successful and he makes it back like new next season.

I'd prefer he stay -- but he has to be willing to restructure his salary. But w/the CBA thing happening, who knows....

I don't see D.Woody giving the Jets the Kellen Clemens discount next season....i think he might be done.

The ideal scenario is obviously that Vlad is ready to play RT. Get younger and cheaper on the line.

Woody out also means bench strength is thinner. Turner is available, but having to turn to Ducassse if needed is more likely with Woody out, obviously.

NOT a good thing, even if you want to argue that Hunter himself might be in better shape to play as the starter than an ailing Woody. But fwiw I thought Woody handled Mathis quite well.

  20. Unfortunately this could mean the end of Woody's career with the jets. He was a warrior for 3 years at RT and shut down alot of great pass rushers.

I hope he's a guy that stays closely knit with this organization.

As for Hunter...we'll likely be slightly better in pass protection..but slightly worse running the ball.

    Hunter vs. ducasse next Tc...
